Dayz how to make a sea chest for storage.
I always bury them even though I'm pretty sure it's persistent.I found a new hole to put the chest in.

Just get into the bush and "DROP" the barrel.The barrel is usually half way up in the bush.There is only a small area that will allow you to open the barrel from your inventory.It might take a while to find that spot.I usually crouch down and get under the barrel, scanning its base from underneath to find the "open barrel" message.Once you know it's there, you'll be able to find it next time..If someone finds your barrel, they think it can't be opened, that's why they're not going to take stuff..If you don't like your barrel placement, you can try again, it is easy to pick up and move even inside the tree/bush using "vicinity", but once you have put stuff in it of course this cannot be done.You have a barrel that is fairly secure if you have the patience to place it, and folk who find it can't find the way in or assume it cannot be done.
