You probably have heard of tie dye and soda ash.If not, what is soda ash? What does it have to do with tie dye?The most important thing to know about soda ash is that it can help prepare the fibers of your fabric to better absorb dyes and therefore produce brighter results. It is not necessary when using Tulip One-Step Dyes because they already have soda ash mixed into the dyes. However, you can still use it.In this video, Mikyla createss shows you how to use soda ash.

Add warm water to a bowl.Make sure the bowl is large enough to hold the item you are going to tie dye for.

Allow your hoodie to be submerged in the soda ash solution for 30 minutes to an hour.

After soaking your fabric, remove it from the solution and wring it out, but not rinse it.Place it on your work surface and use any tie-dye technique you like to bind it.

After mixing your One-Step Dyes, apply them to your fabric.Once you have applied your dyes, cover your project with plastic or seal in a sealable plastic bag and let set for 6 to 8 hours. Then wash and dry according to instructions.
