A bikini top is made of crochet.

If you have basic skills, crocheting a bikini top is an easy project.Depending on how intricate you want it to be, it can be difficult to get a well-fitted top.You can make a crochet bikini after you finish your bikini top.

Step 1: You can choose a medium-weight cotton yarn and hook.

It is important to use cotton yarn because it will hold up after many washes. There are many colors of cotton yarn in a craft supply store. If you choose a medium-weight cotton yarn, you will get a J-10 crochet hook.Pick your favorite color or use variegated yarn for a more colorful bikini top.It will look like you changed yarn while making a bikini.

Step 2: Take a slipknot.

Pull the first loop through the second loop when you wrap the yarn around your fingers. You need to tighten the loop around 1 finger to get it onto the crochet hook.To tighten the slipknot around the hook, tug the tail.

Step 3: You can make a chain with crochet.

When you loop the yarn over the hook, pull it through your slipknot to make a chain. This will create a chain that will cover the width of your chest. To check, hold one end of the chain under the other. When the chain is long enough to go from one armpit to the other, it is finished. It is not necessary to get a bust measurement before you wear the bikini top.Knowing the cup size of the person who will wear the bikini may help with the size later on.

Step 4: To begin the first row, you need 3 extra stitches.

You have to chain 3 more stitches after you have a chain that is long enough to cover your chest.Pull the yarn through the loop and make a chain. For a total of 3, repeat this 2 more times. The first double crochet stitch will count as these 3 stitches.

Step 5: There are two crochets.

Put the hook into the fourth chain from the first hook.Pull one loop through the chain.Pull through 2 loops after yarn over again.Pull through the last 2 loops on the hook if you Yarn over 1 more time. This is the last double crochet stitch.Double crochet the next chain after you complete the first stitch.Continue to double crochet until you reach the end of your first row.

Step 6: The band can be completed by repeating the rows 3 to 5 times.

Turn your work around to start a new row.Just as you did the last one, double crochet across the row.If you want the band at the bottom of the bikini to be wide, repeat this for 3 to 5 rows.If you want, you can work 2 to 3 rows in the shell stitch. The decorative design on the bottom band of the bikini will be created by this more intricate stitch.

Step 7: When the band is desired width, cut and tie off the last stitch.

Pull out the last loop when you're done working the bottom of the bikini.Cut the yarn from the last stitch in the row.Pull the tail to tighten the loop at the end of the row.The yarn should be left for now.You can trim off any stray ends of yarn later on.

Step 8: A slipknot and chain 6 is needed.

Pull the first loop through the second loop when you loop the yarn around your middle and index finger.Wrap your crochet hook around the loop.Pull through the yarn over the hook and make your first chain. For a total of 6 make 5 more chains.

Step 9: Do one crochet across the chain.

The first chain has yarn over the hook.Pull this loop through the chain.Pull through 2 to complete the first crochet stitch. This should be done at the end of the chain.

Step 10: Work a number of single crochet stitches into the last chain.

When you reach the last chain, make a chain of 1 and then single crochet 2 more times into the same chain stitch. You will be able to work around to the other side of the chain if you create a fan-like design at the end of it.

Step 11: There is single crochet on the opposite side of the chain.

Continue to single crochet on the opposite side of the fan.Work 1 single crochet stitch into each of the chains. The bikini cups will provide full coverage if you keep your stitches tight.

Step 12: If you want to turn your work around, you have to chain 1.

If you reach the beginning of the chain again, make a chain of 1.Turn your work around so it is facing you in the opposite direction.

Step 13: The cup should be the size that you want.

When you get to the chain 1 space, single crochet 1 time into each of the stitches. There are two sets of single crochet stitches in the last row. Then, single crochet 2 times, chain 1, and then 2 more times into the chain 1 space.Work 1 single crochet stitch into the opposite side of the fan.Continue to work the cup until it is the right size.If you want to know when it's done, place it against your breast or compare the size to a pre-made bikini top cup.The cup can be measured for an approximate size.A triangle top is made with this pattern.Across the widest part of the triangle, an A cup will measure 4– 4.5 in (10–11 cm), a B cup is 5– 7.5 in (13–15 cm) and a Ccup is 6– 6.5 in (15–17 cm).

Step 14: Tie off the laststitch.

Pull the loop through when the cup is the right size. From the last stitch in the row, cut the yarn 10 in (25 cm).The end of the yarn should be inserted through the loop.To tighten the loop, tug the tail. The tail should be left for now.It can be used to sew the bikini cup onto the band.

Step 15: The second bikini top cup needs to be the same as the first.

The bikini top cups should be the same in size and shape.Determine when to stop making the second cup by using the first cup.

Step 16: The band should be placed along the bottom of the cups.

Place the band on a clean surface. The cups should be lined up with the top edges of the band.Place 2 to 3 pins through the edges of the cups and band to secure them.To check the placement of the cups, hold the top against your chest or a pre-made bikini top.The cups should be adjusted if necessary.

Step 17: The cups need to be sewed to the band.

The end of the tail can be inserted through a yarn needle. To secure the cup and band, begin sewing in and out of the stitches along the edges.Go through one side of the band and then exit the other side. The needle should be inserted through a stitch on the opposite side of the cup.Cut and tie off the yarn when you reach the end of the cup. This will secure the cups to the bikini band.

Step 18: Attach the bikini with 4 long chains.

You can make a chain that goes all the way around the back of the bikini.Check to see if you can pull the chain under your arm and across your back by holding it against the end of the band. This is likely to be about 45 chains.Take a total of 4 chains and tie them off at the ends.

Step 19: Wrap the chains around the cups and band.

Attach the bikini to the chain by sewing through the edge of it with a yarn needle. The chain should be secured by tying a knot at the edge of the bikini top.Attach 1 chain to the edges of the bikini band as well as the tops of each bikini cup.

Step 20: The ends of the chains should be cut with a knife.

Cut any yarn that is hanging on the bikini after securing the chains.Cut the stray threads 0.25 in (0.64 cm) from the knot to make them less visible.Your bikini top is finished once you finish cutting the yarn.If you want to see how it looks, try it on.
