Fairy homes are a great way to give your fairies a place to live.A homemade fairy house is more special and unique than a store-bought one.The only thing you need to start is a shoebox, scissors, glue and a spark of creativity.
Step 1: Find a small container that you can use.
The box's size, shape, and color don't matter.It's okay if the shoe box doesn't have a lid.Extra cardboard can be used to make the roof and floors.There are some shoeboxes that have flaps on top of them.Cut the lid off first if this is the case.The photo boxes are shaped like shoe boxes.These are great for fairy houses.
Step 2: Measure the length, width, and depth of the box.
You need to measure the roof, floor, and walls.The ruler should be used to measure in the following areas: length, the longest edge of the box.The shortest edge of the box is Width.The height of the box goes from the opening to the base.
Step 3: To make a strip that matches the box's depth, you must cut the lid in half.
Remove the lid and cut it in half according to the box's depth measurement.You can cut the lid with scissors or a craft blade.Cut the lid so that the box is at least 10 cm wide.
Step 4: The side walls should be left on if you cut the lid's wall off.
The box has 2 short walls and 2 long walls, but the lid is three-dimensional.The strip should have at least one long wall and two short walls.If you want to leave the 2 short walls on the sides, cut off the wall along the longest edge.You can secure your roof to the top of the box by using the 2 short walls.
Step 5: To create a V-shape, fold the strip in half widthwise.
It doesn't matter which side of the lid is facing out.The roof should be folded so that the narrow edges match up.Once you have folded and creased the strip, unfold it to form a V-shape.This is the roof of your house.
Step 6: The roof should be taped to the narrow ends of the box.
Stand on one of the narrow ends.Attach the side tabs to the sides of the box by standing the roof up.If you prefer, you can glue the roof on.It sets up fast with hot glue.You have to tape the tabs down until the glue dries, but you can use tacky glue.
Step 7: Extra cardboard can be used to create a back wall for the roof.
The opening of the shoe box should be facing up if the house is put down on a sheet of cardboard.Go around the roof and cut the triangle out of cardboard.The back of the roof has a triangle on it.The shoe box is on one side of the roof.The front of the roof is the same color as the opening.
Step 8: Make the second floor by cutting the rest of the lid.
Stand the house up and look at what's left of the lid.Lift the house away by tracing around the bottom of it with a pen, pencil, or marker.Use a craft blade or scissors to cut out the rectangle.Try to put at least 2 of the walls in the lid.These will make it easier to install the floor.If the leftover lid isn't big enough, use another sheet of cardboard.The boxes work well for this.
Step 9: Glue the dividing floor into the shoe box
The shoe box has a floor.Attach the 2 tabs from the dividing floor to the box if the top and bottom floors are the same height.To secure the other end of the floor to the box, use a strip of tape.If you didn't leave any tabs, place strips of tape on the narrow edges and long edges of the box.The walls need to be pressed against the tape strips.
Step 10: Extra cardboard is used to make extra walls.
Based on the height and depth of the room, draw a rectangle on a sheet of cardboard.Attach a strip of tape to the top, bottom, and side edges.Press the tape strips against the floor, ceiling, and back wall when you slide the room divider into it.The room's height should match the height of the rectangle.The box's depth should match the width of the rectangle.If you do more than one room divider per floor, the rooms will be too narrow.
Step 11: You can draw window and door shapes.
The floor and room dividers won't get in the way if you draw these on the inside of the box.Draw your windows and doors on the back of the box if it's too hard for you.Use a pen or marker that is easy to see.Give the windows a + shaped grid.
Step 12: The doors and windows can be cut with a blade.
You can work on the mat.You can connect the holes by poking them in the corners of the windows and doors.An adult should help you with this if you are a child.Don't cut the doors on the long, vertical edges.You can still open and close the doors.If you accidentally cut through the grid on the window frame, don't worry.You can fix it with sticks.
Step 13: It is possible to cover the outside of the house with paper.
You can use a variety of paper here, such as wrapping paper, tissue, or even construction paper.Attach the paper to the box with a glue stick.If you bought a photo box from a craft or fabric store, it may have a pattern on the outside.You don't have to do this step if you like the pattern.If you don't have a glue stick, you can use a paintbrush to apply liquid glue to the box.
Step 14: If you don't want to use paper, you can paint the outside of your fairy house.
You can use tempera or poster paint if you want.You can either paint the entire house in a solid color or paint designs on it.If you bought a photo box from a craft or fabric store, it may be colored on the outside.If you like the color, you don't have to paint it.It's a good idea to add glitter to the paint before it dries.
Step 15: Paint the inside of the house, or cover it with paper.
The easiest way to do this would be to paint.Measure the walls first, then cut the paper to your measurements.Use a glue stick to glue the paper down.White school glue can be used as well.Press the paper down after applying it to the walls.
Step 16: For a realistic effect, cover the floors with wooden craft sticks.
Cut your craft sticks so that they match the depth of your house, then glue them to the floors with hot glue, white school glue or tacky glue.There are two ends to the craft sticks.It's important to trim both of these off.You can use wooden coffee cups.There is a paper that looks like wood.
Step 17: If you want to make it look realistic, add some shingles or sticks to the roof.
Attach sticks, moss, or pinecone petals to your roof with hot glue.White school glue is not recommended because it takes too long to dry and the items will slide off.Glue wooden sticks across both sides of the roof for a rustic look.Glue down tufts of moss.There are bags of moss in the floral section of the craft store.Glue down pinecone petals in rows, like scales on a fish, for a traditional root.Work your way to the top from the bottom edge.
Step 18: The windows should be decorated with curtains, trim, or magazine pictures.
Start by filling the window with paper, then finish by making the frame.Cut squares out of blue or clear cellophane and glue them behind the windows to make glass.If you want to give your fairy a nice view, glue a magazine picture behind the window.To make the window panes, glue sticks or craft sticks around the windows.You can make a + for the grid.You can use craft form if you don't have sticks.You can use paint or patterned washi tape.Attach small pieces of scrap fabric to each side of the window for curtains.
Step 19: Paint and doorknobs are needed to finish the doors off.
You should decorate the doors if you added them.Give them a quick coat of paint or cover them with paper.Hot glue a bead to the side of the door to make it.
Step 20: Ladders are created with sticks or twigs.
2 sticks that are a little taller than your first floor, and a bunch of smaller sticks are what you can cut.Attach the smaller sticks across the long sticks to make a ladder.Hot glue is the best for this, but you can use tacky glue or liquid school glue.
Step 21: Use shells or stones to build footpaths.
The fairy house can be set in the garden or in a larger lid.There is a path leading up to the fairy house.Button or flat-backed marbles/vase filler are examples of other items you can use.If you use a larger tray, fill it with soil first.
Step 22: Use thread to make tables and chairs.
You can either reuse them or buy them from the craft store.You can make the tables and chairs more comfortable by using scraps of fabric or paper.You can use buttons to make dishes.Thimbles are great for cups.To look like toadstools, paint mushroom-top corks.There are tufts of moss that can be used to make chair cushions.
Step 23: Matchboxes or soap boxes can be used to make other furniture.
There are small cardboard boxes, such as soap boxes and matchboxes.Paint them or cover them with paper, then decorate them to make them look like appliances.Markers can be used to draw on details.Attach beads to knobs and handles.thumbtacks can also be used.You can use buttons for stovetop burners.To make a mini-bed, glue beads to the bottom of a matchbox.
Step 24: You can use items around the house to make bedding.
You need to think small and put yourself in a fairy's shoes.Look at the work around you, if you are a few inches tall.What kind of item could you use as a sink?tufts of moss can be used to make pillows and cushions.Use scrap fabric or old T-shirts to make blankets and bedding.To make sinks and basins, use bottle caps or larger shells.
