Updating the look of a sofa or bed can be done with a zip up pillow covers.You can change your pillows with new covers in an instant, and then remove the covers whenever you need to wash them.It is easy to make a pillow cover with some fabric, a sewing machine and a zip up.
Step 1: You can choose between the color and style of fabric.
Medium-weight fabric in a smooth texture is the easiest fabric to work with.The fabric you choose will appeal to you.You could use cotton or cotton-linen to make your pillow cover.
Step 2: The length of your pillow should be taken into account when choosing a shorter zippers.
This is the ideal length for a pillow cover opening.One way to match the color of the fabric you are using is to use a light blue zipper.For example, if the pillow you are making is 36 cm long on the side that you want to add a zip onto, then choose the zip that is 10 in (25 cm) long.
Step 3: You can choose from a pillow form that is in the desired dimensions.
You can buy a pillow form in a craft supply store.Pick a pillow that is in the shape, size, and thickness that you want.If you want to make a square-shaped pillow that is 16 by 16 in, you will need a pillow form in these dimensions.
Step 4: 2 pieces of fabric are smaller than the pillow form.
Take the width and length of your pillow form and subtract 1 in from each measurement.Cut your fabric into 2 equal-sized pieces.The pillow should look plump in the pillow cover if the fabric is cut slightly smaller.If your pillow form is 16 by 16 in, you should cut your fabric so that it is 15 by 15 in.
Step 5: The sides of the fabric facing each other are Stack them.

Step 11: A straight stitch is used to sew around the edges.
Line up the edges of the 2 pieces so the right side is facing inwards.Then, sew a straight stitch from the edges of the fabric around the remaining open sides.
Step 12: The pillow cover has excess fabric at the corners.
After sewing the other sides of the cover, use a pair of pinking shears or regular scissors to cut off excess fabric at the corners.It will help to reduce the bulk on the corners of the pillow.Don't cut through the stitches at the corners of the pillowcase.
Step 13: The pillow seam has a zigzag stitch around it.
Next, sew a zigzag stitch all the way around the non-zippered edges of the pillow cover.The zigzag stitch needs to come to the raw edges of the fabric.To make sure the stitch is not too wide, you may need to adjust your zigzag settings.
Step 14: Put the pillow insert into the Invert.
Invert the pillow cover after securing the edges with a zigzag stitch.Attach the pillow form to your cover and zip it up.Your pillow cover is complete.
