A scarf is knit.

There are a number of ways in which to knit an infinity scarf. You can make a loop out of a scarf by knitting it together. If you're more experienced with knitting, you can do it in the round.Either way, there will be a decent scarf.

Step 1: Cast on 60 stitches.

Step 2: P 2 across the row.

Step 3: The scarf needs to be at least 180 cm/ 70 inches.

A suggested shorter length is 95 cm/37 inches. You can make it longer, but keep in mind that this is bulk hanging around your neck.

Step 4: Pull the rib as you end the knit.

P 1 is the end of the row.

Step 5: Take off the stitches.

Turn the ends inward as you sew them together with the cast-on edge. Before sewing together, some people recommend twisting one end. It's up to you, as in putting the scarf on, you'll be twisting it anyway.

Step 6: Done, that's done.

Step 7: A very long circular needle is used.

You won't be able to wrap it again and again if you use a small one, because you'll only knit enough to make a short scarf. The needle should be at least 4mm.

Step 8: You can choose the pattern and stitch.

Knit stitch works well for beginners. As you go, you can change the number of rows.

Step 9: Choose the length of the scarf.

To gauge the final length from the stitch you'll need to make a sample piece of about 15 stitches. You can calculate the final length desired with this information.

Step 10: To cast on.

Cast the number of stitches needed for the required length using your calculation from the previous step.Start knitting in circles after connecting the beginning and end of the row.

Step 11: You can knit around and around.

Step 12: Continue knitting until you reach the height you'd like.

The scarf is complete when cast off.

Step 13: The first thing you should do is use the 2.25mm needles.

On 3 US needles, cast on 152 sts.Do not twist the sts.Work 3.8 cm/1 1/2 inches in rounds of K 2, P 2 rib.

Step 14: The 3mm (2 or 3 US) needles should be used.

The pattern is Knit : Knit Purl.

Step 15: The pattern is formed by these 8 rounds.

Make a total of 14 patterns by repeating 13 times.

Step 16: The 2.25mm (1 US) needles need to be changed.

Work is done in 3.8 cm/1 1/2 inches.

Step 17: The cast off should be in the rib.

Step 18: The ends should be neat.

The cowl is done. You can try it on for size.

Step 19: Pick a pattern.

If the length is long and the style stays rectangular, an infinity scarf can be made.It should have a decent width.Try to find something that will allow the scarf to hang nicely.

Step 20: You can knit the pattern.

Step 21: Stitch the ends together to make a loop.

One scarf from your favorite pattern.
