You found a Tallbird Egg, took it, and even managed to escape the angry mama.You are at a loss on what to do with this.It is a waste of time to cook and eat the egg because you can.You know that you can use it for something else?Gain an adorable and valuable ally by hatching it into a Smallbird.
Step 1: The process of hatching begins.
When Tallbird Eggs are warmed to a point, it's a good idea to build a nice, warm fire.Drop it near a fire for about 10 seconds and you will see the egg cracking immediately.The Hatching Tallbird Egg would become a minion after the initial warming.A fire pit is a permanent source of light and heat.During the other seasons, campfires are better because they extinguish more quickly, which means you can just work or explore the night away and come back to a still-hatching egg.
Step 2: Keep it cold.
If kept cold for too long, Tallbird Eggs will stop hatching and form Wet Goop.If you want to sleep before the night falls, simply drop the egg close to the campfire.This will keep your egg warm.
Step 3: It's best to keep it away from cooking.
Don't keep it close to the campfire all day.The egg would cook your tiny friend before it was born.During the day, place it away from the fire or inventory.The egg will not continue hatching until it is placed back on the ground.
Step 4: You should be patient.
The egg takes about 3 days to hatch and give or take the time it spends in your inventory.As long as you keep up the care, a small bird would emerge soon enough.
Step 5: It should be fed frequently.
You have to give small birds lots of seeds and raw berries to keep them happy because they are frequently hungry.Walk up to them, then click or press X to feed it.Once they reach adolescence and transform into Smallish Tallbirds, they can eat all of the food on the ground.Small Tallbirds deal a small amount of damage when they are hungry.There is an incentive to feed them often.Birds die in a few minutes if you don't feed them often.Two and four minutes for Smallbirds and Smallish Tallbirds.
Step 6: Be careful with your small bird.
Smallbirds are fragile and over-eager to help their player in a fight.If you don't keep a good eye on your baby bird, it will probably get killed.No matter how experienced you are, you should not pick fights with mobs that are really dangerous.They are a lot stronger when they reach adolescence.Every meal you give Smallbirds and Smallish Tallbirds, they are healed.
Step 7: Keep an eye on its growth.
Smallbirds take 10 days to reach adolescence, and another 18 to become a full-grown Tallbird.Tallbirds, even the ones you raise since hatching, are hostile and territorial towards the player.It's best to keep your distance once you're nearing the inevitable time and it starts pecking at you for reasons other than hunger.Even so, you could always get another Smallbird.
