A squirrel house can be built.

Squirrels are not appreciated by many garden enthusiasts.Squirrels are protected by providing a designated area for them in your garden or birdhouse.A squirrel house will encourage them to stay in your area.A squirrel house is used to feed and shelter animals.

Step 1: You need to gather your tools.

This is a basic project that doesn't require much more. You will need a saw, screwdriver, and screws. You can use a hammer and nails if you don't have an electric screwdriver. The squirrel house is more secure with screws than with nails.First aid kit Sandpaper, measuring tape, and pencil should be on hand as well.

Step 2: Take wooden boards.

This project will work with scrap lumber. It is easier for the squirrels to damage exterior grade plywood. To be used as the floor, roof, and overhang, two boards should be larger than 12 x 12.You need two more 35” x 6”The average squirrel size is the basis for the six.If you see larger animals, use a bigger wood.If you have enough scrap wood, use something between 6” and 10”

Step 3: Make the front and back panels.

The roof overhang is the key to a good squirrel house. The front board should be one inch shorter than the back board. To mark 18” on one board and 17 on another board, use your measuring tape.Draw legible and straight lines with your pen.Cut along the line with your saw.Take your time sawing.A good cut is better than a choppy cut. These are the dimensions of the squirrel house. It is possible to make your house smaller, but not bigger.Squirrels like small spaces.

Step 4: You should create your sides.

The sides should be the same width as the front and back panels. There is a more advanced cut required for the side panels. You need to measure on one edge and the other edge. The plank's top will be cut.Measure using your measuring tape.Draw a line to connect the markers. To make a straight and even line, use a ruler.Use your saw to make a clean cut.The panels should align with the front and back walls.

Step 5: It's possible to create a doorway.

You need to create an entrance for the squirrel.Measure three inches from the 18” side of one of the side panels. The 3” mark is used to create a hole. The pointed edge is being removed. It does not need to be three inches in diameter. What species can fit in the house is determined by the hole size. The opening of the squirrel house was too large.

Step 6: Attach the walls to the building.

Place the walls using your hands.Make sure the front and rear edges are in line with the sides. It is time to attach the walls once you are happy with the outline. The front wall should be positioned with a sidewall.Place the side panel in front of the front panel.Attach the two with 4-7 evenly spacing nails or screws.Attach the side panel from the front wall to the back wall. The nail or screws should go through the side of the wall.Attach the other sideboard to the house. You should use between 4-7 screws or nails for each corner.Take your time if you are using an electric screwdriver. If you try to work too quickly, the wood will be damaged. There should be an even slope from the back wall to the front wall.

Step 7: You need to connect the flooring.

The squirrel house will benefit from using one of the 12” x12” boards. The frame was created in the previous step. The wall should be aligned along the edge of the floorboard. To mark where the corners will be, center the frame.Attach the nails and screws by flipping the frame.Attach the nails or screws to the corners. For each side, use between 3-4 screws or nails.Attach the nails or screws to the frame of the house.

Step 8: The house needs to be filled

A wooden divider is sometimes used to create two stories in a house.Squirrels like to play in small spaces.Adding pillow fluff or a stuffed animal will make it more comfortable for the squirrel.Dry moss can be found in nature or a craft store.Measure the inside of the house to make a divider. The entrance to the house was cut out with a 3” hole.Someone will help you attach the floor divider with a nail or screw. The help hands will attach the screw to the wall. There are gaps between the walls and floor. The structure doesn't need to be as tight.

Step 9: Attach the roof to a vehicle.

The extra 12” can be used as the roof.Align the edge of the roof to the wall.As you nail or screw in the roof, you need to hold the wooden board in place. An overhang should be on the front of the house.

Step 10: Go to the yard.

It's a good idea to watch the squirrels in your yard.Take mental notes of the trees you see.Pick a tree that you think will hold that house.A location that is 10 to 30 feet off the ground is ideal for squirrel activity.Squirrels are more likely to occupy a house that is higher in elevation.

Step 11: You should create a grip.

You will need two large nails to hold the squirrel house. You can use a ladder to get to the house. You need a partner to spot you for safety measures.Use a hammer to drive the first nail into the tree.Take the second nail and drive it parallel to the first nail. The second nail should be left exposed.Between the two nails, the squirrel house should fit.

Step 12: The squirrel house needs to be wrapped.

You can tighten the squirrel house to the tree with a thick wire.Make sure you use a strong wire.It is possible to tie the wire together and tighten it with pliers, but this may prove dangerous at such a height. You can ask about the thick gauged wire at a hardware store.Something will work for them.

Step 13: The squirrel house is on top of something.

The squirrel house needs to be between the two nails. The goal is for the nails to fit the house in a snug manner.Use the wire from the previous step to secure the squirrel house.

Step 14: You can add food.

Squirrels are easy to find if you have a shelter for them.Squirrels and birds enjoy the same foods.Squirrels are a reason why bird feeders are invaded. You could use pet food or bird food.
