One of the most well-known buildings in the world is the Eiffel tower.Many people make models for fun, while others are assigned to do it for school.The finished model is impressive, but it is very easy to make.A few materials, patience, and a little bit of time is all you need.You don't have to finish your tower all at once.
Step 1: There is a line drawing of the Eiffel tower.
From the side and straight on, the drawing needs to be of the Eiffel tower.The lines have to be clear.Don't use a blurry or low-quality drawing.The trees, people, and buildings will get in the way if photographs are used.Don't use a drawing with more than one side of the Eiffel tower.You will glue the sides together to make a tower.
Step 2: If necessary enlarge the drawing.
Make sure that the drawing is the size you want your tower to be.If you found your drawing in a book, you may be able to enlarge it.If you found your drawing online, you can use an image editing program to make the drawing bigger.If you want to enlarge the image, you can set the size to inches or centimeters.
Step 3: You can trace, photocopy, or print the drawing.
You can trace a drawing with tracing paper and a pen or pencil.If you found a drawing in a book, you should make a new one.Print it out if you found it online.If you are printing a large image, you may need to print it out multiple times.You can glue multiple pages together to make a single image.Make sure the lines are flowing smoothly.Do not leave gaps between the lines.
Step 4: Attach your drawing to the work surface.
Place your drawing on a table.If your drawing is on a single sheet of paper, make sure to tape the top corners as well.The top corners of your drawing should be left alone.If your drawing spans multiple pages, you will need to shift the pages down and re-tape them as you move from section to section.
Step 5: Put a piece of clear plastic over your template.
This will allow you to peel off your pieces.The best way to protect a page is to use a clear page.Put the plastic over the base of your drawing and secure the edges of the table with tape.If the drawing is dark enough, you can use wax paper, or even freezer paper.You have to be able to see the lines.
Step 6: If you want a traditional model, use wood.
It requires a lot of cutting and precision and is one of the more advanced materials.You will need to use thin strips of balsa wood, coffee stirrers, and tooth picks.You will need to know how to bend the wood.You can curve the wood by soaking it in hot water for an hour.Wait until it dries before using it, hold it in place with tape or string.
Step 7: It is possible to use dried pasta and spaghetti as an alternative to wood.
Thin noodles are used for details, such as railings and lattices.If you need to make a curved piece, cook the noodle long enough for it to become flexible, curve it into your desired shape, then let it dry.
Step 8: If you don't want to use wood or pasta, use thin cardboard.
The illustration board and Bristol board are examples of thin cardboard.You will need a cutting mat and a sharp craft blade to cut it.If you want to skip the plastic cover, transfer your template to the cardboard.Thin cardboard that is only white on the outside and brown inside should not be used.Have a few craft blades.They will dull quickly if you change them out.Nice cuts won't be made with dull craft blades.
Step 9: If you are making a small model, try hot glue.
This is the best option for models that are less than a standard sheet of printer paper.It may collapse if hot glue is used on anything larger than that.Try any of the other materials if you want to make a larger model.
Step 10: The bottom, middle, and top sections should be noted.
The Eiffel tower has a base, middle and top section.The sections are divided by railings.The top is the tallest and has a small roof.As you work on them individually, pay attention to these sections.
Step 11: The base's frame can be made with glue.
Cut the material you want to use for the base.Set the template with a drop of white glue on the top and bottom of each piece.The pieces should line up with the template.If you are making a cardboard model, cut out the base shape first.The top, bottom, side edges, and arch are included.If you want to make a model out of hot glue, trace the outline of your tower and let it set.
Step 12: Glue the pieces together.
If you cut and glue one piece at a time, it won't get mixed up.The horizontal lines should be done first.Continue with the lines.A single drop at each end of youroodle will be enough.You will get too much bulk if you overlap the pieces.Attach the bars separately.If you are making a cardboard model, you should start with the larger spaces and then move on to the smaller ones.The process of using hot glue is the same as it is for horizontal lines.You can overlap the lines.
Step 13: Let the glue dry.
It depends on the type of glue you are using.If you're worried that the glue isn't strong enough, you can use a single drop of glue to reinforce the joints.If you are making a cardboard model, skip this step.If the old blade isn't giving you clean cuts, it might be a good idea to switch to a new blade.It should take a couple of minutes for hot glue to be applied.
Step 14: The piece should be removed from the template.
To separate the piece from the template, use a spatula or ruler.Remove the glue from the plastic with your fingernail.Pick up the piece and set it aside.Another template can be created on a piece of cardboard.If you made a hot glue model, peel the glue off.Pull off the threads with hot glue.
Step 15: The process should be repeated 3 more times.
There are 4 pieces for the base.Each time you make a cardboard model, you need to create a new tracing.You can use the old template to make a stick, pasta, or hot glue model.
Step 16: The process should make the remaining sections.
There are two sections, the middle section and the top section.If you are using a craft blade, be sure to switch it out for a fresh one whenever the old one starts to create ragged cuts.If you made the entire model on a single sheet of paper, skip this step.Hot glue models are included.
Step 17: If desired, create additional pieces, such as the roof and railings.
Depending on how detailed you want your Eiffel tower to be, you can either do this or not.When creating the sides of the tower, start with an outline and fill it in with lines.Each of the 4 walls and 4 roof triangles needs to be created separately.
Step 18: To form a square, glue the base pieces together.
Attach the inside edge of your first base piece with a line of glue.To form a right angle, place the next piece against it.The last two pieces should be Glued to complete the square.The top and bottom edges need to be aligned.Paper, wood, and pasta models can be made with hot glue or super glue.You need to hold the pieces until they dry.Hot glue can be used for models.The glue will set too fast if you work 1 side at a time.
Step 19: The process should be repeated for the middle and top sections.
Cans, bottles, and blocks can be used to support the pieces as they dry.If you have a hot glue model that is all 1 piece, skip this step.
Step 20: Glue the sections together.
If you made platforms and railings, you should glue them to the top of the base and middle sections.Stack and glue the sections together.If your model is all 1 piece, skip this step.
Step 21: Glue on the railings.
You should glue the railings on if you made additional pieces.The railings should be aligned with their designated places on the template.The side edges of each piece should be aligned with the bottom edge of the railing.Super glue or hot glue can be used for this.You will need to hold the piece until the glue dries if you want to use a thick glue.
Step 22: If you made it, you should assemble the roof.
To make a square, glue the walls together.Attach the top of the roof to a pyramid.The pyramid should be Glued to the walls.Glue the entire piece to the top of the tower.If you made a tower out of hot glue, you can make a small triangular mount and glue it to the top.
Step 23: The spire should be added to the top.
For wood or cardboard models, use a toothpick and a thin noodle.Glue the spire to the top of the model.Hot glue is a great option.As the glue sets, you may have to hold the spire.Draw a thin line of hot glue on a piece of plastic, parchment paper, or wax paper.Then peel it off.Glue it to the tower.
