Toxicity. This species is deadly poisonous. They have been shown to contain amatoxins, which are highly toxic to the liver and are responsible for many deaths by poisoning from mushrooms in the genera Amanita and Lepiota.
Are all agrocybe edible?
Also unfortunate for us is the fact that most Agrocybe species are not considered good edible mushrooms. Agrocybe species have a dark brown spore print and usually have a partial veil, which protects the developing gills then leaves a ring around the stalk after the cap opens.
Is a yellow field cap poisonous?
Bolbitius titubans, also known as Bolbitius vitellinus, is a widespread species of mushroom found in America and Europe. It grows chiefly on dung or heavily fertilized soil, and sometimes on grass. It is nonpoisonous.
Are Conecaps edible?
Some field guides record the Common Conecap as 'inedible', and possibly poisonous. With its small size and thin flesh, this delicate and very fragile mushroom would hardly be worth gathering even if it were a good edible species, and so Conocybe tenera is probably best left for the lawnmower to devour.
