Be a cool teen.

Some girls have an air about them that is really cool.It is difficult to explain why being cool has a lot to do with self-confidence, attitude and social skills. There are a number of things you can do to make yourself look and feel cool.Although how you look is only a small part of being cool, you can also choose clothes and accessories that you feel good wearing, use good posture, and smile to enhance your cool factor!

Step 1: To find out what you excel at, make a list of all your strengths.

Think about what activities you enjoy, what subjects you like best in school, and what people think of you.Writing down things that you're good at will help you feel more comfortable in your own skin, and make you look that way to the rest of the world.Ask a friend or family member to help you come up with things that you might not have thought of.If you always earn As in your math classes, math is one of your strengths. If you like gymnastics, then this is one of your strengths. If you feel like you are good at something, add it to the list.Strengths can be added to personality traits. It is possible to include in your list that you are a kind person, have a lot of common sense, or a loyal friend. If you think something isn't cool, list everything. It is important to know what you are good at.

Step 2: Get in tune with your emotions.

The better you understand yourself, the more confident you will be.Work on this skill if you aren't in tune with your emotions.Take a minute to figure out where the feelings are coming from if you start to feel uncomfortable.Take a few deep breaths and think about what makes you nervous on the first day of school. You don't know what to expect from your teachers.Don't worry! You can start to relax again if you remember that everyone feels the same way.

Step 3: If you are self-critical, be kind to yourself.

It's important to love yourself the way you love your friend.Don't put yourself down by showing yourself kindness, compassion, and understanding. You will be able to show your best side to the world if you have a positive view of yourself.Give yourself a compliment on something you tend to be self-critical about. If you want to compliment yourself on a personality trait, you could say, "I have a great sense of humor!"If you like to read, you should set aside at least 15 minutes each day to do so.When you make mistakes, forgive yourself.Say something like, "I forgive myself for that mistake" when you make a mistake.I am doing my best and that is great.

Step 4: If you're stuck in a rut, try something new.

Being adventurous and trying new things is part of being cool.If you're scared, look for new activities that interest you and push yourself to try them. You can join a sports team or a special interest club. You can join your school's basketball team or audio visual club.Exploring new music. If you want to discover new music, make sure to listen to music that you like.Don't listen to music that other people think is cool.Asking a new person to hang out.You can invite the girl who sits next to you to go for a walk.Ask the guy whose locker is across from yours to sit with you at lunch.

Step 5: Carefully listen to what you are told.

Close friends need good listening skills. It helps people to feel heard and understood when they talk with you, and they'll naturally want to spend time around you if you listen well! It's a good idea to put your phone down when you're talking to someone. It will be easier to focus on what they are saying.Judgement should be set aside.Don't think about whether you agree or disagree with what the person is saying.Don't worry about understanding them.Don't interrupt them. The person should finish speaking before you speak.neutral statements such as, "uh huh," "yes," and "I see" can be used to acknowledge what the speaker is saying.

Step 6: Share your experiences when they are relevant.

You can communicate with other people by talking about cool experiences you have had. When it's appropriate to bring up something cool that happened to you, pay attention to the moments in the conversation.Share your experience.Don't brag when you share.Don't mention that your family has 2 speedboats if you're talking about how they bought a speedboat. You could say something like, "That's awesome!"I like going on my family's boat.

Step 7: Assert you.

It will make your peers respect you if you have unique opinions and are able to stand up for yourself.Speak your mind instead of following what other people say.If someone asks you to do something that you are not comfortable doing, say no, and if you feel like someone is taking advantage of you, talk to them.Say no to simple requests such as a friend asking to borrow your shoes when you need them, or your mom trying to get you to have a second helping of pancakes if you have already said you are full.If you want to be assertive, say, "I need my red heels for the party this weekend."It is important for you to assert yourself because some people may express hurt feelings when you tell them no.Say something like, "I am sorry you feel that way" if someone gets upset with you for asserting yourself. If you find it hard to assert yourself, take a deep breath.Imagine if you stood up for your friend or family member instead of yourself to make them feel more confident.

Step 8: Don't surround yourself with negative people.

Choose people who make you happy.Avoid people who make you feel anxious, criticize you, or put you down. The people who will think you're cool are the ones who encourage you, compliment you and make you feel comfortable. If you have a friend who often criticizes your looks and makes you feel self-conscious, you might want to spend less time with them.Look for people who compliment you and make you feel good about yourself.

Step 9: Without expecting anything in return, be kind.

People who are cool will make others feel good. You can compliment your classmates on their accomplishments, appearance, or personality. If a new student can't find her class, offer to help.Offer to help a fellow classmate who is having a hard time with a math problem. You can practice being kind by volunteering at a homeless shelter.

Step 10: Don't forget to take care of your personal hygiene.

It's important that you look and feel like your best self.Every day, make sure to shower or take a bath, wash your hair and face, and brush your teeth. It's easy to build your confidence by looking and smelling clean. After you shower, put on a set of clean clothes.Whenever you get sweaty, take an extra shower or bath.

Step 11: It's a good thing to eat healthy.

Taking care of your body with healthy food and regular physical activity is a great way to look cool.Fruits and vegetables are a good source of vitamins and minerals. You can do any type of physical activity that you enjoy.Talk to your doctor if you think you need to gain or lose weight. If you start to worry about your weight or diet, you should speak with your doctor. This could be a sign of an eating disorder.150 minutes of physical activity per week is what you should aim for.

Step 12: You can choose clothing and accessories that make you happy.

Pick your favorite t-shirt to wear to school or look for new fashion trends. You have to be sure that you are comfortable.Don't be afraid to have your own style.Confidence is the key to rocking any outfit. If you want to stay up to date on the latest trends, you can check out a copy of your favorite fashion magazine.Follow your school's dress code.If you wear uniforms to school, you can add a personal flair to your look by wearing a cute bracelet or vintage scrunchie.

Step 13: If it appeals to you, try wearing makeup.

If you like wearing makeup, there are a lot of cool things you can do with it.If you want to see what you like best, you can experiment with different makeup looks. If you want to try a cat eye look, you can use eyeliner, do a smoky eye, or opt for a natural makeup look.Whether or not you wear makeup is up to you.Don't feel pressured to wear makeup if you do not want to.

Step 14: Use your hair as a tool.

You can change your whole look by getting a new haircut or coloring your hair.If you love your hair the way it is and have been rocking the same hairstyle for a while, there is nothing wrong with that.If you have always wondered what you would look like with a different hair color, visit a hair salon and try something new.It is not possible to put hair back on after it has been cut.Don't go more than a few inches shorter than your current cut if you want to be cautious. If you will be dyeing your hair at home, choose a hair color that is only 1 to 2 shades darker or lighter than your current color. If you want a dramatic color change, you should see a hairdresser.

Step 15: Stand tall and keep your head up.

Standing or sitting in a slumped over position can make you seem like you lack confidence, and it can also have a negative effect on your mood.Good posture can help you to look and feel more confident.Imagine a string going from the top of your head all the way down your spine pulling you upwards. If you feel like you are slumping, imagine the string is taut. You should be able to maintain better posture.

Step 16: Affirmatively, smile.

People like to be looked at with eye contact. They can feel more connected if they acknowledge other people. You may meet new people in the process.Make eye contact with students you pass in the hallway.Say "hello!" or "good morning!" if someone smiles and makes eye contact. This small connection will make your day a little brighter.
