Bowls can be made out of Vinyl Records.

You can turn any unwanted vinyl records into bowls. These creations can be used for storage or gifts. You just need an old record, a bowl, an oven, and a few minutes of free time. It's important to make sure you have enough air for the project.

Step 1: Open a window and preheat your oven to 200 to 250F (100 to 120C)

The oven rack should be moved to the bottom of the oven.If you have a window open, turn the fan on.The fumes that are not safe to breathe in come from the melting vinyl.

Step 2: A heat-safe bowl can be set on a baking sheet.

Set a bowl that is a little smaller than the record onto a baking sheet.Line your baking sheet with foil or paper. You should be happy with the size of the bowl. The bowl will be the same size.

Step 3: There is a record on the bowl.

Make sure the record is centered and that the label is facing upward.Make sure the side you like the most is facing up if your record has a label on it.First, clean the record if it's dirty.

Step 4: The record should be placed on a heavy can.

Make sure the can is centered. As the record warms up, the can will help it conform to the shape of the bowl.If you don't have a can, fill a cloth bag with dried beans or rice.

Step 5: The vinyl will start to warp when baked.

Place the baking sheet in the oven. The vinyl will start to warp after about 3 to 5 minutes.Do not bake it for more than 10 minutes. The record is in the oven.To poke it, use a metal spatula.

Step 6: Take the record out of the oven and let it cool down.

To remove the entire baking sheet from the oven, use a pair of oven mits.Let the record cool down by setting it down on a heat-safe surface. It should take about 10 to 15 minutes.

Step 7: Take the record out of the bowl.

The record will have ruffled sides. It can be used to store non-food items.

Step 8: You should preheat your oven to 200 to 250F.

You can open a window or turn a fan on.The oven rack should be in the bottom of the oven.

Step 9: Place the bowl upside down on the baking sheet.

The bowl should be 812 to 9 inches wide.Place it on the baking sheet. If you want to protect your baking sheet, cover it with foil or paper. You can use cans, mugs, and even metal colanders.

Step 10: The bowl has your record face down on it.

Make sure the record is centered and that the side you want to be on is facing down.If the record is dirty, clean it first.

Step 11: The record needs to be baked until it becomes soft.

It should take about 3 to 5 minutes, but it could take up to 8 or 10 minutes.Don't let your record melt if you keep an eye on it.You are ready for the next step once it starts to warp.

Step 12: The record should be taken out of the oven.

Pull the entire baking sheet out of the oven with a pair of oven mitts.Put it on a heat-safe surface.

Step 13: You can shape the record.

You may be able to do this with your bare hands, but you need to be careful so that you don't burn yourself on the base bowl or the baking sheet. You can use a spoon or spatula to shape the bowl.Work quickly because the record will start to cool in about 20 to 30 seconds. You can set the record into a smaller bowl first, then shape it that way.

Step 14: The record should be kept cool before being taken out of the bowl.

The record should be cool to the touch after about 10 to 15 minutes.Once that happens, you can use the base bowl to store non-food items, such as remotes, knick-knacks, or accessories.
