Senior Member. I call them burners (put it on the back burner) sometimes, especially when cooking with gas which literally burns.

Whirlpool “stove eyes” are another name for the burners. More specifically, the burners on a Whirlpool brand stove. They are fairly simple to clean, once you are used to navigating them. For gas stoves, you do not need to remove the eyes to clean them.
Are stove knobs removable?
In most stove models, the control knobs can be pulled right off. Once the stove knobs are removed, this is an excellent opportunity to clean behind them. A lot of grime can build up behind the stove knobs which can make them difficult to move.
