Step 1: The guard needs to be taken off the clipper.

Most guards come off easily.Pull the guard off if you press down on the tab.It is much easier to clean it.Before removing the guard, make sure the clipper is unplugged and off.You can wash the guard if it isn't removed.Don't get any electronic parts on the wet clipper.

Step 2: Remove the guard with a brush.

You can use the barber brush or the clippers brush. This will get rid of loose hair. You need to get in between the teeth to remove the hairs. The guard and clipper should be brushed before and after use.

Step 3: Warm running water and soap should be used to rinse the guard.

The sink should be turned to warm or hot water. The guard should be washed underneath the water to remove hair and dirt.Rub the clipper between your hands to make soap sudsy. If you make the water too hot, you could burn yourself. For general cleaning, hand- washing the guard is fine. That requires special chemicals.

Step 4: The guard teeth need to be cleaned with a brush.

It might not be enough to get rid of all the hair and dirt.Rub the cleaning brush between the teeth on the guard to remove any debris. You could use a toothbrush, pipe cleaner, or similar tool if you don't have the brush that came with your clipper. If the gunk is not coming off, use more soap and scrub the spot with a brush.

Step 5: Store the guard until you need it again.

Take the guard off and wipe it with a towel. When it's all dry, store it in a clean spot and leave it to air-dry.If you have a lot of clipper guards, you can use open storage to store and air-dry them at the same time.If you have a salon or barber shop, this is useful.

Step 8: If you don't have barbicide, you can submerge the guard in alcohol.

A great substitute for barbicide is 70% rubbing alcohol. If you want to cover the guard with alcohol, put it in a cup or bowl.Allow it to soak for a minute to kill all thebacteria. If you make sure you wipe every part of the guard, you could use alcohol wipes. The spaces between the teeth are important.

Step 9: Allow the guard to sit for a minute after spraying with Disinfectants.

A quick spray can be used if you want to get rid of your guard quickly.Put the guard on a flat surface and spray it with Disinfectant.Let the sterilants sit for 60 seconds to kill all the germs.Cool Care and Barbicide are Disinfectant sprays. You should always follow the directions for the product you use.
