Deer Repellents are used to keep deer out of the garden.

There is a way to keep deer from eating trees.I planted apple trees several years ago.I took precautions to prevent them from eating the green shoots and damaging or destroying my efforts.

Here is what I did to keep deer out of my trees.

The fence is made of welded wire and supported by two T-posts.The fence is 15 feet in length. The apple tree was given several feet of clearance by the circumference. The fence circle is about 5 feet in diameter. The fence is 5 feet tall.

Deer don't like the scent of Irish Spring soap.Several bars were cut into pieces and I put them into several pairs of women's knee socks.

The socks were hung around the fence.I only dropped a few chunks of soap into the socks.

The forest uses white paper folded in half and stapled around the tips of their trees to keep deer away.It works.

Ask your barber for hair clippings. There are nylon stockings hanging from the tree branches. This works well. You can scatter dried blood around the border of your garden. It will keep deer and rabbits away. Most garden centers sell dried blood.A special tape is sold at garden centers to place around the base of the young trees.Mouse can't chew the young bark and girdling the trees.I have lost trees because of this.

I have trouble with hogs grubbing around my fruit trees. There are also avocados trees. The roots are being damaged. The best part of the tree is dying. The bark is being rubbed off at the bases. They are breaching my fence.I get suggestions on things I could put on the ground to deter them from rooting, other than shooting them every chance.

They are everywhere now.The State Wildlife people are working.GUNFIRE is the only present solution.

What about hogs?Is that a hog?Squirrels and moles are not so bad after all.My dog can hunt.:

Put four posts into the ground, nail 10in boards to the bottom, and put fencing like in Ken's picture. It will keep the hogs away.I have to do this because we allow our hogs to roam free when the mamas want to take the kids to the creek.

Take about 4 in.The soil is 3 feet around the tree.Buy a roll of barbed wire, place it flat to the ground, and make a spiral of circles with wire about 3-6 inches apart. The soil needs to be replaced.

Highly intelligent animals are hogs. They will not return to that tree after one encounter with a cut up snout.

I go with the Urinal Cakes again.Ken uses the same method to tie one or two in the tree.Works on any animal. They are worth the cost at $8-$9 a dozen. They will last an entire season because the rain won't melt them.

Nothing comes around for 125 lbs Rottweiler.I have a pond and creek on my property, which is surrounded by woods.I have seen a squirrel and an animal with my dog.I have never seen the coyotes on the property when the dog is inside.

I keep deer on 350 acres of hardwood timber with a combination of urinal cakes and soap chunks.Corn feeders and mineral blocks are included. The land is planted with cotton.Shrimp is wrapped with a slice of bacon for the 4th.

I'll try the urinal cakes. The neighbor is making something out of his dog waste.Where their trails are, pour it down his fence line.He says he is having good luck with it.Might try that as well.

These are urinal cakes.I have to say something. We have a large garden in northern Minnesota that is frequently visited by deer.We tried everything to discourage them.I didn't know about urinal cakes.I ordered a dozen on Amazon. They were placed at the corners of the garden and around the fruit trees. We saw a big deer walk up to one of the Cakes and stomp around in the garage. Then with the flick of his nose, flip it in the air and walk off into the woods.People, it works.Thank you NRP.

The sprinklers work great. They are battery operated, coarse need water, and will keep animals out of your garden. It will get you if you don't shut it off before you go in.

Eggs were sprayed on the tips of branches to prevent deer from nibbling them.

I was not in a place where hogs were rooting on my property.I enjoy hogs. The meat is tender and usable in most pork recipes if it is less than 200 lbs.I used to go after them for a long time in California. When you shoot meat, skin it out and put it on ice.A typical hog hunting truck had an ice chest in the bag full of frozen water bottles.

The only thing I don't like about California is hog hunting. Some parts of the state are not good at them.

My fruit trees were attacked by a mule deer.I strung a 30lb test fishing line around my mini orchard. At night, the deer can't see the line.Deer walk into it and freak out because it is invisible to them. They take off like a bat.Since then, I have not had a deer issue.Inexpensive and clean around the property.

I agree with Ken that it might be worth giving it a try. Thanks for the idea.

I had trouble planting my trees last year.On an all night talk radio station, I put an old radio in a garbage can.It works so far in the second year.

Our deer used to destroy our taxus shrubs. The monofiliment line was the only item we tried. The electric fence was the only thing that worked. We must have had some hungry deer.

The deer were so hungry a few years back that they stepped onto the neighbor's porch to reach the shrubs coming from the top as they had protected all the sides.

If all else fails, 12 ga with rubber buckshot or #8 birdshot to the butt end seems to work well. They won't be hurt if you put you 35-45 yards out.

I said it four years ago.Don't steal the one's out of the restroom.Buy it from Janitorial Supply Stores. They work.

I have trouble comprehending someone wanting to steal a urinal cake from the restroom. It is assumed that it is in the urinal.I could use a ziploc and wear gloves.I would have to enter the men's room as well.It might surprise some people.I'm not sure.

You might be surprised by what humans steal. Why would anyone steal a busted up pallet from the back of my truck?Insaine.

The pallet liberation army must have been the NRP because they are made of once living wood and have rights as well.

If 7/16 OSB is $38/ sheet, that pallet has a lot more value than it used to.

I asked for them at the lumberyard.I made a coffee table out of a piece of furniture. It's insane be me.

It is important to secure your trailer hitches because they are being stolen and will be difficult to replace.

Can you tell me how long a urinal cake lasts?I don't know how many I need for the next two years.

When I put the Cakes out, I only open a small hole in the plaatic wrapper.Enough stink will be allowed to deture most animals.A good month or two is how long they last.I put them in an old fish can and put one at each garden. These things are very large.Place them where rain water won't collect in the can.

They are said to be made of para-dichlorobenzene, a chemical that comes with baggage. The cake becomes a gas without going through the liquid state. It is a recognized animal carcinogen and can be found in the blood of most people. It is also in insects.

I had my dogs pee around the trees and the edge of my garden.I am in deer country and have never had a deer.

We have 20 trees, we have success with $1 solar lights from Walmart, one at each tree on a 3ft stake, and a large dog also helps.

I haven't enjoyed the fruits of the apples produced by the trees that have been there for ten years.

Started out with a five foot fence and no apples. The year I went to the Irish Spring soap, I believed it was the attractant that brought them in.My girlfriend was grossed out when I did the urine thing next year.I used the holographic tape strips that are supposed to keep birds away, but didn't do anything for the apple-tree raiders. After setting out battery operated flood-lights, I heard a group of females say they would have to come after me if I left for work.

I enjoy watching the little deer that are five feet away from my window in the spring snacking on corn, which is now illegal in Michigan.

I use their hardware to set up a large run of permanet and 1200 feet of deer fence.

The deer looked really funny wearing individual fences around trees. The hair and soap did not work.We put them in my old garden. The deer were kept out but the ground squirrels were able to get in.I wonder if urnial cakes can be used against squirrels.
