If we were to look at the history of Delta Airlines regarding their safety record and customer service, we would find that they are number one or two in North America.Satisfying their customer base is important because they take their values seriously.

Delta's Rules of the Road outline what it means to live out their core values and leadership behaviors every day.Their core values have made them successful.

It wasn't always this way.Richard H. Anderson was appointed as Delta's CEO after it emerged from Chapter 11.The year before it merged with Northwest Airlines, Delta began profit-sharing with its employees and started its Rules of the Road, a guideline for employees.

Through its leadership and great employees, it was possible to move beyond their old corporate culture of short-term thinking, destructive decision making, and poor employee relations.Delta regained its role as industry leader after adjusting to market realities.
