If you didn't get a home warranty as part of a real estate transaction, you can still buy one and it will still cover pre-existing conditions as long as they are visible using the standards above.Pre-existing conditions can cause problems inside an appliance or home system, without creating any issues that would be apparent by looking at or even mechanically testing the system or appliance.As long as the waiting period for new policies has elapsed, these issues are still covered.

Damage is covered by the American Home Shield home warranty.Pets, children, and pests aren't covered for damage.Secondary damage to your home that can occur as a result of appliance or home systems failure, such as water damage due to flooding, will not be covered by the home warranty.The cost of modifying your home is usually not covered by a home warranty.
