Button quails are small birds that make great pets.They have a small size that makes them ideal for living in aviaries.You have to make some accommodations when you keep multiple button quails.They can live long and healthy lives with you if you divide them by sex and give them enough space.
Step 1: Provide a large area.
Button quails need room to move around.They would have room to run around the ground if they were kept in an aviary.As long as each bird has enough space to run around in, that should be enough.The bird's cage is not tall because they stay on the ground.

Because button quails spend most of their time on the ground, you will need to place their food and water dishes there as well.This will allow the birds easy access to the vitamins and minerals they need, which can be found in a game-bird diet that includes fresh vegetables and fruit.All dishes should be cleaned before being used again.It will help keep your birds disease free.The button quail doesn't need its own food or water dishes.One dish of each will be fine if your birds can easily access food and water.
Step 4: There are places for the birds to hide.
Button quails like to hide in their cages.This can be an upside-down shoe box, or some other container with a door or two cut in it.Giving your birds a place to hide will help them feel safe in their home.
Step 5: The birds should be given dust.
Button quails use dust to clean themselves.Giving them a shallow bowl of chinchilla dust or another dust bathing product will allow them to do this effectively.The container should be large enough for the bird to sit and move around in.If you have more than one bird in your cage, one dust bath is all you need.
Step 6: The cage should be kept clean.
Most of the time, button quail are at the bottom of their cage.The bottom of the cage needs to be cleaned daily to keep it clean.Food and water dishes should be cleaned on a daily basis.Cleaning a button quail cage daily will reduce the risk of disease.
Step 7: The birds can be kept relatively warm.
Button quail do not thrive in cold or hot temperatures because they are native to the warm grassland of China.Try to keep them at an average household temperature.If you have an outdoor cage, make sure it is protected.It should be protected from the wind and heated if the temperature drops.Rats are attracted to outdoor cages.
Step 8: The male and female birds are indoors.
Button quails do not live in colonies in the wild.It is likely that they should be housed as male and female pairs.chicks will be added to the pairs for periods of time because they will likely reproduce.Keep 1 male for every 5 females if you want to breed quails.This will reduce fighting.
Step 9: Males should be kept away from each other.
The male button quail can be territorial and aggressive towards each other, so they should be kept separate cages.They may eventually attack each other if they are housed together.
Step 10: If necessary, put female quails together.
You can keep more than one pair of button quails in the same cage if you need to.They are territorial at times, but not likely to fight or hurt each other.A male can be included in a cage with all females, as it won't be territorial towards females.
