Duck Egg Blue Chalk Paint® is a blue or is it green, and how genetics determine duck egg color.

I wrote a feature about Annie Sloan's "Blue" Chalk Paint colors.I included all of the Blue's.You can read about it here, but I left out the Duck Egg Blue color. Many of you were disappointed.Duck Egg deserves a post all to itself. Here it is!

I must tell you that I am a huge fan of Duck Egg Blue.I have to remind myself not to paint everything with this color because I love it so much.

Duck Egg Blue is easy to see and plays well with many existing colors in a room.It has amazing color "stain blocking" coverage.A couple years ago, I wrote a post about how I used it over a dining table that had a burn mark on it.The entire burn mark was covered when I applied the first coat of Duck Egg Blue. After one coat of Duck Egg, there was no bleeding or showing through. It was very impressive. At that moment, I realized that Duck Egg Blue was more than just a pretty face.

Duck Egg Blue is a beautiful color. This one is even more special because all of Annie's colors are.

It can complement many different colors and interiors. It is a bluish color.Annie says it is similar to Swedish and French interiors. It looks great with Old White. When it is used over Chateau Grey, we love it.When you apply dark wax over it, it brings out the green and blue in it.If you love French Country, it is a must have.Add some Dark Wax and you have a killer combination. You can partner Duck Egg Blue with any of Annie's reds.Check out the sample board with Duck Egg Blue over Primer Red.The piece has a dark wax glaze on it.

At my shop, I have pieces of 15 inch long crown molding painted in each of the Chalk Paint® colors.Customers can hold the sample boards, move them around next to other colors to see how they look and pair, they also can take them outside to look at the color in the sun. They can see the true color and the difference of how it looks on lighting. The sample boards look like they are spread across a Hoosier cabinet base. They are a great way for my customers to get a feel for what the color really is.

It blends better near the Olive, Chateau Grey and Versailles colors to its left and Provence and Florence to the right in this sample board spectrum.
