Users can easily connect with a subset of people on a team with tags in Microsoft Teams.You can assign custom tags to people based on their attributes.The Shifts app will soon allow tags to be assigned to people based on their schedule and shift information.After a tag is added to one or multiple team members, it can be used by anyone on the team in a channel post or to start a conversation with only those people who are assigned that tag.
Private channels haven't supported tags yet.The US Government Community Cloud has tags.There are no tags available in the DoD organizations.
A tag can be assigned to someone on a specific team.It can be used in a chat or a post on any standard channel of the team.There are some examples of how tags can be used.
Team members associated with the tag will be notified when it's mentioned in a channel conversation.
In the Microsoft Teams admin center, you can control how tags are used.You can't use PowerShell to manage tags.
Up to 25 tags can be assigned to a single user, and a team can have up to 100 tags.
Team owners can add custom tags.You can either allow team owners and team members to manage tags or turn them off.

If you turned on the Let team owners override who can manage tags setting in the Microsoft Teams admin center, you can set whether members can add tags at the team level.Go to the settings tab for a team and choose who can add tags.
If you're using the Shifts app in Teams, you can add custom tags and set up tagging by shift.You can learn more about using tags in teams.
To find your team in the list, select Teams on the left side of the app.Choose more options and then choose Manage tags.You can assign tags to people on your team here.
Your users can reach the people on shift in real time.Notifications are only sent to people who are on shift when a tag is used to start a chat.
