Brian is a fan of John Coltrane and loves opera and jazz.Brian is proficient in French and Spanish. He is a member of the MENSA.He can imitate a barbershop quartet without accompaniment. He was invited to write for The New Yorker but was fired because he didn't graduate from college. The subject of Faster Than the Speed of Love and a synopsis similar to the film "Iron Eagle III" has been brought up several times throughout the series. He is an alcoholic and recovered cocaine user.Brian discovered that he had a cocaine habit due to his mother abandoning him.He has made references to buying, being in possession of, and smoking marijuana. He does a dance to the song A Bag of Weed.In "It Takes a Village Idiot, and I Married One", it is revealed that he has a tattoo. He keeps a gun in case he wants to kill himself.

Brian was born on a farm in Austin, Texas. His father was a guard dog named Coco, his mother was named Biscuit, and the owner of all the dogs were farmers. He had a lot of personal problems because he was abandoned by his mother. In "Don't Make Me Over", he blamed his upbringing by his father for his hostility towards a famous rapper. He thinks that the camera man is shocked because he turned off a black tv program, and that's why he becomes enraged at the end of the episode. He is said to be 8 years old in "The Man with Two Brians" because his year of birth is never given.

He said "I was the one who could talk" when he was with his first owner. His mother died and was made into a table in the same episode. When Brian and Stewie stole the body and gave it a funeral, they made a requiem of how nice of a table she was.

He attended Brown University in Rhode Island. In "Brian Goes Back to College", Brian re-enrolls in an attempt to earn his degree, but fails, as he is one class short of graduating from Brown.Brian was in the Peace Corps. One of the show's reality-bending cutaways is most likely the one where he hung out with Andy Warhol.

Brian suffers from incontinence due to the stress of his romantic feelings towards Lois. When he has an accident in the grocery store, he tries to hide his condition by blaming it on Stewie.

Brian is deeply in love with Peter's wife, Lois, and has dated several human women since the show began. The bestiality aspects of a relationship between Brian and a human have never been commented on by a character. He's a dog.In "Brian: Portrait of a Dog", Brian was called "Brain Griffin" by the dog show announcer.

Depending on the joke, his age is usually treated differently. If I play my cards right, I will get seven more years ahead of me.Brian was homeless before he met Peter, who offered him a home with his family in Quahog, Rhode Island.

Todd, a talking dog, was put down at the age of 15 due to illness.

In the Season 12 episode "Life of Brain", Brian was killed by getting run over by a car and replaced by another dog, who took his place until "Chistmas Guy" came back and saved Brain.

In "Don't Trust the D in Apartment 23", Brian was banned from The Griffin House after attracting an angry mob of people to the house for posting a racist joke on the internet.Brian lived out his days in an old apartment. There was no carpets or wallpaper in Brian's room.It was difficult for him to stand on the cold cement floor without a towel under his feet.Electricity and running water were not compatible. He lived next to a couple who could be heard arguing through a thin wall.

Lou Spinazola, the apartment manager, became somewhat of a friend of his, and his only ally in the new neighborhood. He made sure to keep Brian on the safe side so that he wouldn't get mugged or become a sex doll.He was in agreement with him on the whole freedom of speech thing.

In "Workin' for the Man", a week had passed and Lou got on Brian's case about paying rent.Brian found a job at the Suicide Hotline. After all of his failed job interviews, this was his last resort.

A new girl named Martha was hit on by Brian in "Petey IV".She was considering filing a rape accusation against him after he tried to flirt with her.Because she was a woman in 2017, she would be taken seriously, evidence or no evidence, and he couldn't deal with another SJW outrage. He decided to plant cocaine in her desk so she wouldn't be able to make rape accusations. If she was in the wrong, she wouldn't be taken too seriously. He was correct. After he ratted her out to the police, Martha decided against making the accusation the day after, and went out with Brian.Martha found out what Brian did when she was taken away. She broke Brian's leg when she attacked him and sent him down the stairs.

Brian was bound to his own apartment room in the movie "Break a Leg".Brian was laid off from his job because he needed to use a wheelchair for transportation while he was in a leg cast.Without money, he wouldn't have a room to be bound to, and he had to pay the rent again.Brian decided to become a cop because he needed a job that a cripple could work at.Law enforcement was not very active in his part of town.Brian didn't need any qualifications to become a cop.Since Brian's broken leg got in the way of a lot of stuff, this got bad, but at first it was great. He couldn't fight crime in a wheelchair like Joe did.Brian was kicked in the ass and broke bones in his body after he quit his job and all the criminals came back to kick him. After this, Lou decided that Brian had the heart to let him stay in the apartment, without paying the rent.

Brian's boredom of being in the apartment dragged on into December with his broken leg.Brian used to use binoculars to look out the window. He could have said he saw Principal Shepherd kill his wife. When Shepherd caught him looking in his room, it got dark.Brian fell off the balcony and landed on the ground after a fight broke out in his apartment. Thanks to Brian's bravery, the SJW nonsense had finally died down.Brian was allowed back into the house after this.

In the movie "Brian Come Home for Christmas", Brian had his leg healed in time for the holiday. He made himself a political hero in Quahog by getting revenge on the SJWs.He claimed that this was the best Christmas present he had ever received.

Brian died after getting into the garbage and eating some chocolate in the future novel "Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story".He tries to get into intellectual conversations with Van Gogh, Hemingway, and Kurt Cobain, but is discouraged to learn that their deaths were more artistic than his.It should be noted that the future depicted in the movie may not actually happen, as Stewie takes action to prevent his own future from happening.

Brian died from eating chocolate, when Stewie traveled to the future. The near-death experience might never happen because Stewie returned to the present and avoided it.It is possible that Brian could die from eating chocolates because causality was never established.According to the commentary on the DVD, it is logical for Brian to die because he would be 266 in dog years.Even if Brian doesn't eat the chocolates, he will still die.

After the election of a man with the name Douchebag, the meaning of the word "douchebag" was changed.Brian is seen in heaven at a table drinking martinis with some famous people.Who would have thought it?Ernest Hemingway, Kurt Cobain, andVincent Van Gogh are some of the people I have drinks with. They all say that they killed themselves out of passion. He admitted that he ate some chocolate from the trash can.

Madame Claude came to visit Quahog in "Peter's Progress".Cleveland said she was a palm reader. She reads the guys palms after learning this.Even though she didn't read Brian's palm, she was still the court jester for King Stewart III because he was not very funny.

Brian is a white labrador retriever and he uses his front legs for arms.Like any dog, he is short and small. He wears a red collar with a golden tag.

Brian is a very smart dog.Despite being an animal, he is the most human member of the family. He serves as the voice of reason to the entire family and is usually the one who stays calm when everyone else is acting crazy.Brian thinks a lot about everything. He's a self-proclaimed writer for a series of books that he wants to get published and he takes events from his everyday life and puts them into words.Brian is the most sensible member of the family and often serves as the voice of reason during family arguments. He is usually the first one to notice the danger.Brian sometimes acts as the "straight man" of the show because of his intelligence, but he also has a lot of internal distress and problems with himself. He keeps a gun in his safety deposit box in case he commits suicide, and admits to Stewie that he can't find a purpose in life."Dog Gone" makes Brian realize that his existence has meaning to the family.Brian enjoys works of art such as the opera Carmen and the work of Dostoyevsky. He collects first editions of literary classics and invests heavily in the stock market. In "Meet the Quagmires" he is shown to be able to play the guitar and keytar, but this may have just been another play on the scene in Back to the Future. He is playing drums in the movie. His intellectual bent makes it difficult for him to form romantic relationships with people, which may be one reason for his substance abuse.

Although he seems to be very flawless and perfect, as the series progressed, it is shown that Brian is a very self-centered, egotistical man who sees himself as a much better person than he is.He is a pretentious douchebag who wants other people to see him as an amazing person in order to receive that kind of respect. He uses this persona in order to get women to sleep with him. He'll often times go to a bar or a restaurant and use a bunch of douchey, cringe worthy pickup lines on them, and try to woo them over with his self-righteous descriptions of himself. He claims to love women for their quirks, but it's obvious he only wants to have sex with them.Sometimes he doesn't know what he's talking about and just acts like he does because his ego feeds off of the appreciation of others. In his defense. He needed to be appreciated because he didn't have time to spend with his mother and father. His current family ignores him no matter how right he is.In politics, stupidity always wins big time when it faces off against intelligence.Peter allows him to live in his house with him and pays his own money to keep him well-fed and pampered.Peter handles all of Brian's purchases.Brian treats him like an idiot.Even though Peter is a total idiot and does a lot of stupid things, Brian acts very rude towards him when he does this stuff, while other members of the family are a bit more respectful.Brian is too open about his political and religious beliefs, always going around spouting a bunch of reasons why being a Democrat and a Left-Wing Liberal is the way to go and why he's a genius for doing that.He thinks that religious people are stupid for believing in their "childish fantasies".He needs everyone around him to know that he's helpful to the environment by owning a Prius, because he is very proud of it.As the seasons have gone on, Brian's negative personality traits have become more and more noticeable, to the point where he knows what he is doing is wrong, but he does it anyway.

Most of the characters like Brian very much. The only exception is Quagmire, who is disliked completely by the New Black.Glenn points out every single mistake, hypocrisy and selfish actions Brian has ever presented, from being a hypocritical hyper-liberal to mocking anyone for believing in religion, to neglecting his teenaged son Dylan.Quagmire has done actions he berated Brian for, so a few of his statements are considered ironic.Glenn points out that Brian's romantic fixation for Lois is a reason, despite the fact that Glenn himself has been stalking Lois for many years with more selfish intentions, though he also mentioned that it was a bad way of repaying Peter for taking in.Brian showed genuine love and care for his neglected son Dylan when they reconciled in "The Former Life of Brian", while Quagmire ignored all of his children born from the women he has had sex with.

"The Man with Two Brians" and "New Brian" are two of the more realistic depictions of dogs in the Family Guy universe. Both classes are subject to the same rules, such as not being allowed inside certain shops or to wander the streets without an owner.Peter's boss, Mr. Weed, referred to Brian as a "funny talking dog" and in "Brian in Love" when Brian tried to explain his relationship troubles to Peter.

Brian shares some of his weaknesses with real dogs.He scratches his hind leg and cleans himself with his tongue. He confirmed on the commentary that he sees in black and white. He was actually vacuuming in "Fore Father", so he has a fear of the vacuum. He couldn't stop his animal urges for the Pewterschmidt dog, Seabreeze.Although his maturity and broad range of experiences seem to imply that he's as old as a middle aged human, he is only eight years old.Peter teases him about his shorter lifespan. He seems to have a midlife crisis in "Brian: Portrait of a Dog".He likes dog food at times. In "Barely Legal", he comes running with joy when Peter's daughter Meg shakes a bag of dog chow.Peter says in "The Thin White Line" that Brian will die 50 years before him.Brian in the movie "Blue Harvest" chases a pig's ear in a fit of barking. In "Breaking Out is Hard to Do", Brian is shown to have difficulty keeping his balance while riding in the back of a van, and when questioned by Peter, he points out he can't stand up straight due to his nature.

Brian is not potty trained but he defecates outside like other dogs.Tired of stepping in his feces, Lois forces him to wear diapers, which he finds extremely humiliating.Stewie told him that he won't be as bad once he gets used to them.Brian gets out of diapers by defecating in Mayor West's garden, leading to the thought that he is potty-trained.

Brian seems to be a bit ashamed of his dog and nervous about his canine status in general. In "Brian: Portrait of a Dog", he refused to perform degrading pet tricks for Peter in order to win money for the family to buy a new air conditioner. He chastised Lady and the Tramp for acting like dogs, saying that it was what they wanted them to do.He is mistreated as a dog and humiliated when he is caught with canine pornography.

Brian exhibits typical dog behaviors such as rolling around in trash, eating it, licking himself, defecating on the lawn, and fearing the vacuum cleaner, sleeping at the foot of Peter's bed, which he blames his father for.

Brian claims he gets his racist tendencies from his father. In "Chick Cancer", Stewie asks Brian a rhetorical question, "What kind of man would I be if I ran off now?"Brian said that he would be a black man. However, in "Peter's Two Dads", Brian is taken aback after Peter says that he obtained crack cocaine from a white guy behind a hardware store.Brian is usually comfortable around the Brown family. When working as a cab driver, Brian gets in trouble for not picking up Cleveland because he said his hurry to run an errand for Lois was an obvious excuse.Brian will pick up the milk at the end of his shift. He changed his mind when he looked at Cleveland and said "I should pick up that milk now before I forget."Cleveland calls Brian a "son of a bitch" and throws a rock at the cab.In "Peter's Got Woods", Brian dates a black woman named Shauna Parks, who he often talks about how much he likes African-Americans.He wants to impress her by changing the name of the school to "Martin Luther King High School".When it was noted that Lando Calrissian was a black person, Brian, portraying Chewbacca said, "Let's hope the only one, right?"

"That's very Christian; believe what I say or I'll hurt you" is the sarcastic reply Brian gave to Francis when he physically threatened him in "The Father, the Son, and the Holy Fonz".He is an unbeliever like one of the characters in the movie, who claims that this character represents him most.

He is at the library looking for The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins. His atheism is attacked in "Not All Dogs Go To Heaven" when he comes out to the Griffins about his belief or lack of, and Meg tries to convert Brian to Christianity, making him a social outcast until near the end.

In earlier episodes, Brian showed his belief in God, when Peter was in denial about God's plagues and insisted that there was a logical explanation for them.God is angry. In "The Thin White Line", he thanks God for giving him his sense of smell, and in "Lethal Weapons" he calls Stewie an antichrist.

Brian attended church with the family in "Holy Crap", "Meg for mercy" and "Neighbor Pains".

In "April in Quahog", he is seen praying, but is quick to deny it when questioned. He left to perform charity at a local soup kitchen after he made a joke about the apocalypse.

Brian's inability to maintain a human girlfriend is a joke on the show. The majority of the time this is due to bad advice given to him by Stewie, who constantly insists to nose around in his relationships. After an attempt to move in together ended badly due to Stewie, he ended his relationship with the longest girlfriend he has had so far.Brian tried to get her back but in the end she let him down and the marriage went on as planned.

He is a self-proclaimed author, who sells his books online, but they are mostly pretty shitty and he takes a lot of time to finish them. He's a journalist, an actor, and an activist, but they fall into the same category as the former and the latter doesn't pay the bills.

In "Stewie B. Goode", time traveled to the future and saw that Brian had died and was up in Heaven, drinking martinis with other great writers.Brian admits that he ate chocolate out of the garbage can.

Brian and Stewie travel back in time to the first episode of Family Guy, where a bunch of other versions of them traveled back from other futures. One of the future Brians had his throat slit and was dead for some strange reason.Brian was afraid that this dead version of him meant he would die but he was too tired to explain how.

If you count the deleted scene, Brian was killed four times in "High School English".Brian was shot in the pool by George Wilson in "The Great Gatsby".Brian played a pig in "Tom Sawyer" that was killed to make him fake his own death.Brian played a puppy that was crushed to death.Scout snapped Brian's neck and stomped on him after he pointed out that there were no actual mockingbirds in the story.

In "Life of Brian", Brian died after his time machine was destroyed, making it impossible for him to go back in time. This was the episode where Brian died. When Brian came back in "Christmas Guy", the family replaced him with another dog named "Vinnie" who took over the role for the rest of the season. The entire canon of the past season was undone when Stewie went back to the moment when Brian died to save him.

In "Roads to Vegas", Brian and Stewie accidentally made clones of themselves. While they were there, Brian was so depressed that he and Stewie planned to jump off the balcony.Brian plummeted to his death after Stewie chickened out at the last second. The original Stewie met up with the clone of Brian and they lived the rest of their lives as though neither of them really died.Brian is dead and the series following him is just a clone.

The maid in "Nanny Goats" was a Russian spy who went on a killing spree. She shot Brian in the head and then came through the door and said that he had returned to the family.
