"Filthy Communication" - E.P.I.C. Word of Truth Christians with filthy communication.

Colossians 3:8 says, "But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth."

Now that you are a Christian, you're obliged to put off all of these, not only these forenamed, but of the other sort of affections.

The context favors the thought "abusive language, or disrespectful language" in addition to the conversation.Communication that would be considered filthy to God needs to be avoided.

Matthew Henry said that the gospel religion supports the right reason and conscience over appetite and passion. We need to stop the quick, rash, and disrespectful comment as well as the filthy communication of sinful words and ideas. In Colossians 3:8 both are implied and we are told to put them out of our lives. The life of a Christian should not include these types of communication. It is against the law for disrespectful communication to come into the Christian's mouth and be directed at other Christians. You may know how to answer every man if your speech is seasoned with salt.

Paul is talking to people who used to be pagans who now live in a state of sin and are servants to sin.The behavior of the world around them should be vastly different now that they are Christians. They were obliged to let go of those inordinate affections which were more spiritual. They put off the conversation because the old man was corrupt according to the deceitful lusts.Let no corrupt communication go out of your mouth, but that it may minister to the hearers.

Romans 2:8 says, "But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath".It is a sudden, hasty, and vehement reaction of the offended mind when it sees itself in the countenance, or written or verbal expression, in a manner and measure unbecoming a Christian. All bitterness, wrath, and anger, be put away from you, with malice.

The word "Malice" refers to both the evil habit and the vicious act, and is often used for those mischievous thoughts which run through all the passions of the soul.It seems to be taken more specifically for a secret malignity of root anger and continued wrath, remembering injuries, meditating on revenge, and watching for an occasion to vent it, to demonstrate our displeasure to the person or persons we hold.

According to the original word usage and definition, this could mean hurting the good name and reputation of someone, which is why we call it blasphemy. If this is taken out in a secretive manner or behind someone's back, it is considered to be defamation, even though it respects our neighbor, our associate, or our fellow Christian.Matthew 15:19-20 says, "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies."

Paul told them to stop the lewd comments. There are implied meanings to what you say.The jokes should be stopped. The vile words should be stopped. The disrespectfulness directed at others should stop. Our relationship with our Lord is affected by wrong communication, which means that God is light and in him is no darkness. We lie if we say we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness.

Solomon said that death and life are in the power of the tongue.

A wholesome tongue is a tree of life and not just truth.

We need to not murmur or dispute things we do for God or the Church.Do all to the glory of God, whether you eat, drink, or both.I will talk about 3 areas where we need to watch our attitudes.

Fires do not start out big and destructive.Small fires have great potential for destruction. The words we say with our tongues are the same. The tongue is a small part of our body and it can cause a lot of trouble for us and for the innocent people around us.The tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. How great, a little fire! The tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity, and it is set on fire by our members.

We need to know what is acceptable. Is texting a good thing or a bad thing? Our relationship with God will be affected by filthy communication. We can't be having fellowship with God while we are living in darkness.

We need to control our reactions to false accusations. We need to follow the example of the Lord, who said in Matthew 5:39, "But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on your right cheek, turn to him the other."

It is our duty to represent Christ in this world.Proper and Godly communication is an important value that we must build our lives upon.We need to show respect to ourselves, to our family, and to the world at large.

Maintaining good relationships between brethren will affect our ability to serve and worship God.If you bring your gift to the altar, leave it there, and then come and offer it to your brother. The Bible shows that hurting a fellow brother or sister in Christ will affect our ability to serve and worship Him.We need to apologize, seek forgiveness, and move on in our service to God.

Everyone has a right to an opinion as long as it meshes with God's opinion.Everyone has a right to be treated with respect.Jesus would not have died on the cross for you and I if he had demanded his rights.Be careful with this. The wrong attitude and spirit will make what you say wrong.

It is a matter of prayer to make your attitude and responses serious. You may be with the wrong attitude. To determine the right behavior in situations that can cause you to get angry, ask God to give you insight. For anger resteth in the bosom of fools, if you are hasty in your spirit to be angry.

We want to be respected. We want people to treat us with respect. One of the values that the Bible says is necessary for life is respect. The Bible is very specific about this.We respect parents, people in authority, church leadership and fellow Christians. One of the great evidences that you know God is being respectful and courteous to people. How you treat people and the amount of respect you show to those in leadership positions over you is a good reflection on your true heart condition to God.How about you?How respectful or disrespectful are you to others in your life?Would they determine if you have a good or bad relationship with the Lord?He said, "Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, but their heart is far from me."

Communication, Disrespect, Filthy Communication are related to Christian Life.
