A noun is an object of a verbs when it comes after an action verbs.The recipient of an action will always be the object of the sentence.

Tom slapped Jerry.We say it is the object of the verbs "slapped" and "Jerry" since they are coming after each other.

The highlighted words are the objects of the verbs.They are functioning as objects of their respective verbs because they are recipients.

When a linking verb or a state-of-being verbs is followed by a noun, it will function as the complement of the other.There are some examples of linking verbs in the English language.

The highlighted nouns complement their respective linking verbs.

The object of a pronoun comes after a preposition in a sentence.The object of a preposition is any word that comes immediately after it.I gave the book to John, that's the object of the sentence.
