On February 11, 2015, I went to FYE to buy a speaker for my father's birthday.A young girl rang me up and asked if I would like to sign up for an FYE backstage pass. She says it's free and that it saves 10% off all purchases in the store.I agreed to sign up even though I don't shop there often. At the store I work at, we have a free loyalty program that allows customers to earn points for the purchases they make and buy merchandise from us with those points.I told her that it was hard to get someone to sign up for something that was free.I never expected it to be as bad as it has been because the associate told me she had never signed anyone up before. She starts typing my information into the computer, asks me to pick out 3 free subscriptions to magazines, and then she leaves.

I checked my bank account 30 days later and realized that it had been taken out of my account for a pass I never used.I looked through the bag with my receipts and found one that explained how the pass works, which the associate did not do.After a 30 day free trial, I will be charged $11.98 a month if I keep the pass active. There is a line at the bottom of the receipt that says that I will agree to pay the fee, but I was never shown or told to sign it.The backstage pass cancellation number is listed on the 'Contact Us' page of fye's website. This must happen a lot if they need a designated number for cancelling the pass.

A man answered the phone and asked what he could do for me.I explain the situation the same way I did.I told him I didn't agree to pay for the pass, and I would like to get a refund if possible. The man keeps making it sound like he is sympathetic to my situation, but then he keeps on saying that he will waive next month's payment, so April will be "free" like February was.He keeps on telling me that he will keep it active so I can continue to enjoy the benefits of the pass, even though I tell him that I want it canceled again because I am in college and need my money. He tells me that he will waive the next monthly fee and then hangs up the phone.

I was stuck with this useless pass because my request was ignored and my money was not refunds.I looked on the internet to see if anyone had ever experienced this before with this company.A lot of people have. Many people have been told by the same number that they will not cancel their pass so they can continue enjoying it, even though most of them were signed up for something that wasn't explained to them, like I was. This is a way of keeping the scam going.Fast forwarding to May, 2015, I have not been charged again, but I will be charged another $11.98 on the 15th if I don't cancel before then. Two of the "free" magazines I was subscribed to at fye are now charging me almost $20 a month. There is a phone number in the transaction description.A man is on the phone, asking what he can do for me.I told him that I would like to cancel the subscriptions if I were to be charged for them and that they would be free.He apologizes for not explaining it to me and refunds my money. That is customer service.I don't blame the employees of the store I was shopping in.They might be told to be vague about what the pass is all about to get people to sign up.I blame the company.

I am calling the company back to cancel the pass and get a refund because Fye is a sad excuse.Chances are they will use the same script they are told to use to keep these passes active, knowing that people will forget to call back and cancel before being charged again. The backstage pass is a scam.I will not shop there again until they clean up their act of customer service.
