If the normal method of pushing on the brake pedal and pressing the release button doesn't work, you can move the shift lever out of Park.1.The parking brake should be set.2.The key is in the switch.3.The shift lock release slot cover has a cloth on it.Carefully pry on the edge of the cover to remove it, using a small flat-tipped screwdriver or metal fingernail file.4.The shift lock release slot has a key in it.5.When you press the release button on the shift lever, you can move the lever out of Park to neutral.6.Remove the key from the shift lock release slot.The cover should have a notch on the right side.Press the brake pedal if you want to restart the engine.If your vehicle is developing a problem, you need to use the shift lock release.The vehicle should be checked by your dealer.
