How do I figure out the installation code of my security system?

There isn't a way to figure out the installation code of your security system. The alarm companies change the codes on their panels.Users can't make programming changes that might affect the function of their monitoring service.

If you want to change the installer code and move to a new company, there are options for you to take back control of your security system. If you want to make a change to system programming, you should contact Vivint to see if they would be willing to help you.

1.Pick out your system.Sky panels are installed by Vivint 2GIG, as well as GC2 panels. If you have a GC2 system, you can replace the original cellular module with a new one and register it with Alarm.com.You will be able to access the programming menu if you have the installer code from the new monitoring company.

The panel shown below is a GC2 panel with an orange Vivint logo on the front.

You will need to replace the entire panel if you have a Vivint Sky panel.Sky panels can only be used with the Vivint service.

2.The panel or the cellular module should be replaced. If you have a proprietary panel, you will need to replace it with a new system. The 2GIG GC3 is one of the great panels to choose from.Any monitoring company that will support their service can take these panels. If the user chooses to go that route, they can be used without monitoring.

Motion detectors, door and window contacts, and any other Vivint Sky sensors will need to be replaced. They will only work with Vivint Sky systems. The 2GIG devices can be used with any of the panels, so they will most likely not need to be replaced. Before installing 2GIG sensors with a Sky panel, make sure to check your devices. Some of the Sky and 2GIG devices may need to be replaced if you have a mix of them.

If you want to register your 2GIG GC2 panel with Alarm.com, you need to replace its cellular module. The new company will be able to give you access to the system programming.

Three different cell phones are compatible with the GC2 system. The cellular service that works best in the area should be chosen by users. The GC2 will need to be installed to the panel before it can be used.
