How to use exofin micro?
EXOFIN® MICRO DIRECTIONS FOR USE Apply adhesive to the wound site by squeezing the aluminum tube gently and continuously in a back and forth motion while spreading over wound site. Once adhesive has completely polymerized (non-tacky) you may cover the site with a secondary bandage.
Where should you not use Dermabond?
- Jagged lacerations.
- Bites, punctures or crush wounds.
- Contaminated wounds.
- Mucosal surface.
- Axillae and perineum (high moisture areas)
- Hands, feet and joints (unless kept dry and immobilised).
How long after injury can you use skin glue?
Most wounds that require closure should be stitched, stapled, or closed with skin adhesives (also called liquid stitches) within 6 to 8 hours after the injury. Some wounds that require treatment can be closed as long as 24 hours after the injury.
Can you use skin glue after 24 hours?
Important things to remember: Keep the adhesive film dry for the first 24 hours. Do not scratch, rub, or pick at the adhesive. Do not put tape directly over the adhesive. After the first 24 hours, you can shower with a skin adhesive in place but do not soak the area in water.
What is Exofin used for?
Exofin Fusion combines a self-adhering flexible mesh strip, mesh anchors and a fast-curing 2-octyl cyanoacrylate topical adhesive to quickly close and seal large incisions while forming an immediate microbial barrier to protect against infections.
How do you remove glue from Exofin?
Application of petroleum jelly or acetone may help loosen the bond. As the epidermal layer grows the adhesive will naturally slough off.
When should you not use Dermabond?
The sutures are commonly used in ambulatory care settings and cost around $5 per package. Also, Dermabond may not be suitable for closure of certain types of wounds, such as those inside the mouth, contaminated wounds and crush wounds.
How do you use Exofin?
Immediately begin to apply exofin® to the wound site. Continue moving the adhesive up the tube while brushing in a back and forth motion “painting the surface” until completely covered. If additional sites require adhesive, move to those sites and repeat.
How long should you leave surgical glue on?
Leave the skin adhesive on your skin until it falls off on its own. This may take 5 to 10 days. Do not scratch, rub, or pick at the adhesive.
