This medication relieves severe pain when less potent pain relievers are not effective. Opioids decrease pain by working on the brain to increase pain tolerance. Morphine immediate release works quickly. It will usually relieve pain within about 30 minutes.
How long does Oramorph take to work?
Oramorph®/OxyNorm® should work within 30 minutes of taking them. You may notice that the leaflet in the medicine package says that you shouldn't take Oramorph®/OxyNorm® if you have breathing problems. This is only a potential problem if you need to take very large doses of it to treat pain.
Can statex be cut?
STATEX tablets must be swallowed whole. Cutting, breaking, crushing, chewing, or dissolving STATEX can lead to dangerous adverse events including death (see WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS).2 Aug 2019
