A 20 gallon tank is a nice size and allows for a good amount of fish, but you need to resist the temptation to over stock this tank.

The rule of thumb is an inch of fish per gallon of water. This is the adult size of the fish.

An outbreak of disease can be caused by too many fish.It is important that you stock up on your tank.

The amount of water in your tank will not be classified as a 20 gallon tank.

The decorations, gravel, heater, plants, and internal filter will all reduce the amount of water in your tank.

The shape of the tank is important.A long tank can hold more fish than a tall narrow one.The bigger the tank, the more fish it can support.

You need to know how many fish you can have in your tank.

Some fish are happy in a school of 6 or more and others are aggressive and do not do well with other fish.

A 20 gallon tank needs a filter that is rated at 80 gallons per hour.It is always safer to use a higher volume filter.

A centerpiece fish draws attention, stands out through either color or size, and also gets along with the other fish in the community tank.

The focal point will be created by an angelfish. You won't be able to have one in your tank because they get large.

The dwarf gourami are each stunning in their own way. When they are in breeding mode, they usually leave the other fish alone.

Puppies do well in a 20 gallon tank.If you want to have males and females, you can just have male guppies.

If you get both sexes, make sure to get double females to males as the males will pester the females and never seem to leave them alone.

When grown to 2 inches, a 20 gallon tank should be able to hold around 10 neon tetras.

The short-finned molly grows to a length of 4 inches and is suitable for this tank.

The sailfin mollies which grow to a maximum size of 6 inches should have at least a 29 gallon tank.

A 20 gallon tank can hold 4 mollies because the short-finned molly requires 5 gallons of water per fish.I would like to have one male and two females.

Redtail, Blue Moon, Yellowtail and Sunset are popular varieties. There is a mickey mouse.

I suggest a single pair in a 20 gallon tank for the original dwarf gourami or the color variant.

To make gouramis feel at home, have tall and floating plants at the surface. They will show their best colors in a well decorated aquarium. The fish tend to jump in the aquarium.

You will need to first cycle your tank and then add fish slowly over the course of a few months.Your tank will not be overwhelmed by fish waste and un eaten fish food.
