Do UofL freshman have to live on campus?
University of Louisville (UofL) institutional data confirms that first-year students who live on campus are more likely to succeed than their off-campus peers are. For these reasons, all first-year students at UofL are required to live on campus.
Can freshmen have cars at UofL?
Should my student bring a car to campus? Students are permitted to bring a car to campus. While most areas of interest are within walking distance, other modes of transportation do exist as well.
Where can all second year students live UofL?
For these reasons, effective as of Fall 2021, all second-year students at UofL will be required to live in on-campus or affiliated properties near Belknap Campus. Our current affiliates are The Nine, The Province, and The Retreat.
Does UofL have dorms?
Our traditional halls are located in the heart of campus and house primarily first-year students. The rooms are typically double-occupancy, with a limited number of single-occupancy rooms available.

Most US colleges, if the student is not married nor living with her/his parents or legal guardian, require that all freshman live in college approved/sponsored (but not necessarily owned) housing. Similarly, if you are an “older” freshman (22 or older) then most colleges will allow you to live off-campus if you wish.
Can you live outside of campus?
While most universities provide dormitories for their students, many schools also allow undergrads to live off-campus. And even if your particular college has no set housing requirements, we strongly urge you to live in a dorm or campus house if possible.
Do University of Kentucky freshman have to live on campus?
Our Lexington community tells us that the best tenants are those who have lived on campus at least their first two years; therefore, the University of Kentucky strongly recommends that all freshmen and sophomores live on campus.
Does UofL require freshmen to live on campus?
Are freshman required to live on-campus? The University of Louisville does have a First Year Live-On policy, but there are exceptions. Students who meet one of the following conditions may request an exemption from the First Year Live-On policy online: Residing with a custodial parent or guardian.
