Avis accepts most major credit cards and charge cards, as well as Visa and Mastercard debit cards, as a form of payment at most U.S. locations.
Does Avis take a deposit?
Generally, at the time of rental, we'll require a credit card hold of total estimated charges or $200 USD, whichever is greater. If you have prepaid with a debit card, the hold is only $100 USD. A prepaid charge card is not accepted for this required hold.
How long does Avis take to charge your card?
This card will be pre-authorized for the full amount of the estimated rental along with a security deposit. Any unused funds secured on your debit card will be released when you return the car, and the charge may take up to 10 business days to appear on your bank statement.
Can I prepay for a rental car with a debit card?
