How To Apply Denture Adhesive

If your dentures are fitted correctly, you don't need a denture glue.If you've had your dentures for a long time, it's normal to need an glue since your jaw will change over time.If your dentures fit well, you may prefer to use a denture glue because it makes it easier to chew and talk.A paste and a powder are what dentures come in.It's not a solution for ill-fitting dentures, so if you have fit problems, see your prosthodontist.

Step 1: You can choose a paste that is zinc-free.

There is a zinc-free paste adhesive that is now available. If you combine zinc with a high zinc diet, it can lead to excessive zinc in your body and possibly health issues. If you use a paste glue that contains zinc, only use it as directed on the label and not use too much glue.

Step 2: Make sure your dentures are clean and dry.

You need to clean your dentures under running water and your normal denture cleanser before applying glue.Next, pat them dry.Dry dentures will help the paste stick to the dentures.Food will not get underneath your dentures if you have a stable bite.

Step 3: Apply denture cream to your upper denture.

Do not use more than the label says you should.Don't put too much on your dentures if you begin with a small amount of glue. The paste should be applied in equal amounts to the upper and the inside of the denture. The paste should not be applied too close to the edge of your denture.

Step 4: You can put a few on your lower denture.

The edges of your dentures should not be too close to the dabs.Again, make sure the edges of the denture are parallel to each other.

Step 5: Press the dentures together to keep them in place.

If there is too much glue on the sides of the dentures, it's time to use less glue. You can use less on the upper and lower dentures if you want to remove them.

Step 6: Don't use more than one application a day.

If you put the glue on your dentures correctly, you don't need to apply it all the time.A 40 g tube of glue should last at least four weeks, while a 47 g and 70 g tubes last five and eight weeks.Do not use too much every day.

Step 7: Try to find a powder that doesn't contain zinc.

In denture glue, zinc is often used. You can experience serious health problems if you have a diet that is high in zinc and you also use a denture powder containing the mineral.Look for powders that are zinc-free.If you use zinc-laden powder, only use it as directed on the label and not use too much of it.Your prosthodontist may be able to recommend a denture glue that doesn't contain zinc.

Step 8: Your dentures need to be cleaned.

To give your dentures a good clean, use your usual denture cleanser.Don't dry your dentures off.The powder can stick to your dentures.

Step 9: The powder should be spread evenly on the denture surface.

The powder should be spread over your dentures in an even layer.Make sure the powder gets on both dentures by shaking or vibrating them. It's similar to flouring a cake pan.

Step 10: Put your dentures in your mouth.

Press the upper and lower dentures into your mouth with your thumb and forefinger. If you use paste adhesives, your dentures may not stay in your mouth. The upper dentures are more likely to be effective than the lower dentures. If you have liquid or food that can loosen your lower denture, you may want to consider using a paste glue.

Step 11: If you feel any pain in your mouth, you should take out your dentures.

If you feel pain when you put your dentures in, or if there is too much glue on them, you may need to remove them. You can try to use a different type of glue or paste. Before you go to bed, you will need to remove your dentures. If you want to clean your dentures, place them in a container with water or a commercial denture cleanser.

Step 12: Warm water is a good way to rinse your mouth.

To remove your dentures, you need to remove food from your mouth.

Step 13: First, remove your lower denture.

Pull at your lower denture and move it in a rocking motion. It should slowly come out of your mouth.

Step 14: The upper denture needs to be removed.

There is a higher surface area for the denture to adhere to, so it may be more difficult to remove it.Press against the front teeth using your thumb. With your thumb, press upward and outward with your nose. The upper denture should come out of your hand.Pull it down vertically if you grab it on the sides with your index fingers. If you want to remove your dentures, don't use any other objects besides your fingers and fingernails. If you don't want to sleep with your dentures in or keep them in overnight, you may need to seek medical care at the nearest hospital or clinic. You can contact the dental service at any time.

Step 15: Clean your dentures and mouth.

If you leave the glue on your dentures at the end of the day, they may not adhere properly the next day when you try to put them in.To clean your dentures, use your denture cleanser.Put hot water and toothpaste in a bowl.Use a soft bristled toothbrush to clean your dentures. You should use the toothbrush to clean your teeth.
