How to apply stain to lattice superfast without using...how to paint wooden lattice in under an hour

It seemed as if spring was finally here a couple weeks ago, but it was a trick. The temperature was nearly 70 degrees and the kid was at preschool.

I didn't want to be in front of the computer all day.I thought it was a good time to clean up the porch, as I haven't done it in three years.I failed to touch the lattice when I did the makeover because I was tired all the time.

On a beautiful day a couple weeks ago, I figured out how to stain wood and give my lattice a much needed refresh.

Thompson's WaterSeal collaborated with this post. All opinions and witty remarks are mine. There are links in this post for your convenience.Click here to read my full policy.

The house had sat vacant for a year before we got it, and I hadn't touched it since we bought it.The previous owner did not build the porch onto the front of the house, so I am not sure if they ever redecorated the lattice or not.

Let's be real for a second.Who would want to stain lattice by hand?Do you see the criss-crosses?It would have taken a long time for me to do it by hand.Nobody got time for two days of preschool. The kid only goes to preschool for two days a week, so I need every second of that time to complete multiple projects.

I had a trick up my sleeve.I did a mailbox makeover last year.Thompson's WaterSeal Traditional Brown Wood Stain Spray was what I turned to again.

I did not tape anything off to do the lattice.I put a piece of cardboard against the top of the lattice to keep the stain from getting on the wood. There were some places where the stain got on the painted wood, but it just wipes off while wet or an easy touch-up.There is no picture of me staining the lattice.I didn't think the roofers would take time out of their day to help my sister.

There is a during photo here. The lattice on the left was still wet after the first coat.

I am a little embarrassed to show you that photo.I didn't realize how bad the lattice was until I saw the huge difference.

When he got home, he was impressed that I took some initiative outside.I did not tell him how easy it was.I said I couldn't possibly cook supper because I had worked all day.He is.

I no longer have an excuse to ignore the outdoors.Don't tell Grunt Labor that I have a secret weapon.

I have to get out of my cave more now that I know Thompson made a water seal in a can and there is a spray latex paint too.

When everyone else thinks you worked hard, the cheap and easy projects are the best.It looks a lot cleaner.

If you had someone else do it for you, it would be easier. You shared a great product with us.

You can't cook dinner after your outdoor trials and difficulties to get all that lattice done in one day.I didn't know that it came in a can and I might have to do a crazy outdoor project myself now that I know about it.That's right.

How could anyone expect me to cook after that? That's right! The canned stain is amazing. You will not be disappointed.

You just made my day.I need a new lattice every year and this is the perfect solution.Thank you!

Looks great!I expected the post to end with 47 cans of stain, but I was pleasantly surprised by how far the stain went.

It looks great!I was curious if you pulled out the spray stain stuff again, I still need to spray my fence. The whole thing needs to be knocked down and rebuilt, but it won't happen any time soon.

I am aware of how that goes, Brooke! Our fence needs some work, but I can't add anything else to the list.

This is a game change.I am so happy that you shared this post. One of the first things I'm going to do is work on the wood at the new house. The spray is manageable.

Last week, hubby stained the deck and lattice. There is more lattice to go, will keep it in mind.

Did you clean the lattice before you painted it?There is a bit of green in ours.We will need to clean it first.

If you have a small mold, I sprayed it with a mixture of water and bleach and that should take care of it.

I like the lattice. There was lattice on the stairs.I wasCalculating how much I might need for a project using 3 cans. Thanks for sharing!!

Well.I did not know they made spray stain. This is useful information because I am a spray paint queen. The lattice looks great.gwingal

Your fence is very nice.Paint is a good friend.Thank you for sharing at the party.Hugs, Bev.

It looks better. It adds curb appeal now. Thanks for sharing at the party.I hope you enjoyed it and made new friends.

That looks great.I like to see what a coat of paint can do to revive something. Thanks for sharing.
