How To Ask for a Date

Asking someone out on a date can be difficult.Don't worry, you're not the only one who feels overwhelmed or uncertain on how to approach asking someone out. Many people can't take the first step in a romantic relationship because of the stress and fear of rejection.A majority of people in America are single. There are a couple of simple strategies that you can use to get a date with someone.

Step 1: Make eye contact and smile.

Two acts of flirting are eye contact and smiling. You can see someone from across a room. When you smile, you show them that you're open to talking to them and that they may be interested in you.Don't stare or smile at them. It's possible to meet a potential date at school, work, a grocery store, or in other social situations.Smiling makes you happy and can make other people happy as well. When looking away, keep eye contact for two to three seconds. It is a good sign that the person is still looking in your direction if you look back.

Step 2: The person's body language should be evaluated.

You can tell a lot by how someone looks at you.If they lean in your direction or point their feet toward you, they may be interested in you. They are not interested in you if they cross their arms and legs or point their knees away.If the person smiles back, that's a good sign that they wouldn't mind your company. It's a good sign that they would talk to you, if they hold your gaze for more than two seconds. This is a sign that they aren't interested, if they avoid your gaze, look uncomfortable, or avoid you altogether.

Step 3: You should introduce yourself.

If they like your attention, you can introduce yourself.Stand upright and keep your shoulders back when walking up to them.Say hello and offer a handshake.Ask for their name or talk about something relevant. You can say, "Hey, my name's Alex."The band rocks. What do you think of them?Look at their body language and facial expressions. You don't want to introduce yourself if they look frightened, disgusted or disinterested.

Step 4: Start a conversation.

You can start a conversation once you've introduced yourself to them.Ask small questions such as how far away they are or if they live in the area.Ask them questions if the conversation seems to be stalling.Paying close attention to what the person has to say and where they come from is a good way to practice active listening.Provide feedback, deferring judgemental thoughts, and respond appropriately to improve your communication and listening skills.Instead of waiting for your turn to say something, internalize and listen to what the person is saying and show them that you are invested in the conversation. It is possible to improve your listening skills by repeating something the person said. You can say something like "So what you're saying is that you liked their underground sound more than their poppy new music, right?" if they explain how they liked a band before they went mainstream. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? What kind of music do you like? Are you a student?Do you enjoy art? What's your favorite movie?Don't ask the question by itself. It should be integrated into the conversation.I just watched the new film by the director, and I thought it was amazing. What movies do you like?Prepare some questions ahead of time if you're feeling nervous.Once the conversation starts, that could help you feel more confident.

Step 5: Listen to what they have to say.

The person would be interested in seeing you again if you listen to what they have to say. They will most likely not go on a date with you if they mention a significant other. It's likely that they want to see you again if they seem happy and enthusiastic to talk to you.You should take this as a sign to leave if they don't eye contact at all.

Step 6: Ask them to leave.

It's a good sign that they will say yes if you ask them.If you want to meet them later, ask them for their contact information first. It may be difficult to ask the question, but don't wait too long to get the chance. You can say, "I had a great time talking to you."Do you want to do it again? It's a good idea to have a specific date in mind when asking the person out.Say, "Do you want to grab some pizza with me after work next week?"Do you want to be my date at the concert?Consider a date where you can play a game or ride a bike.It can help you avoid awkward silences if you have plenty to keep you engaged throughout the whole date.

Step 7: Discuss their romantic life.

Determine whether the person you're interested in has a significant other or not.It will be easier to have a conversation if you already know the person.Determine if they are ready to date by asking questions about their current relationship. You can start the conversation by asking if you've been dating recently or hanging out by yourself. You can say, "I thought you were still with him."Are you no longer together? If you notice that the person doesn't date that often, ask them if they are in a relationship. Are you concentrating on your studies? If you talk to them, they will open up and talk about their romantic desires.Sometimes people don't date because they are busy with school or work, have recently got out of a relationship, or are enjoying their time being single. Some people might want to stay single.

Step 8: Determine if there is chemistry.

You already know that you like the person, but that doesn't mean they like you back.Think about the times that you've spent together and see if there is any sexual tension when you hang out.Think about what you share and how you make each other feel.Asking your platonic friend out may upset them. The chemistry already exists if you are playful and flirtatious.

Step 9: They should determine their interests.

You should know more about the person you are going to ask out on a date.Ask them questions about what makes them happy. You can have deep and honest conversations with them. They will feel more inclined to offer their opinions if you tell them what interests you.Figure out how they like to spend their time and what they don't like. This information can be used to come up with a date that they will enjoy. You can watch a movie on the TV if they prefer to stay inside. If they enjoy partying, you can take them to a club. You can find shows in your area if they are interested in theater.

Step 10: Ask them what to do.

Give them a call or talk to them in person after you feel confident asking them out.Don't build up the event in your head and think about your execution. If you are let down, you'll be upset.Ask the person if they would like to go out with you at a certain time and date. You can say, "Hey, I know you like plays and Wicked is coming into town."Would you like to go with me?If they can't go because of their schedule, they should be able to go at a different time or date.

Step 11: Send them a text or direct message.

Asking someone out can be too much for some people.Asking someone out through a text may be easier. They don't need to respond and technical issues could prevent them from seeing the message."Hey," you could write in text.I'm going to see Spiderman this weekend.Would you come with me?Don't be obsessed with it if they do not respond.Send them a follow-up text after a couple of hours.

Step 12: You can ask a friend to do it for you.

It is possible to get a mutual friend to ask for you if you don't have the person's contact information.Tell your friend that you'd like to go on a date with them.If you tell your friend where you'd like to meet up, they'll be able to convey the message to the person that you like the most."Hey, I really like Mark, but I'm too nervous to ask him out."Do you think he would meet me after school? If you let a friend know that you like someone, that person will reach out to you if they feel the same way.

Step 13: Ask for a date during a conversation.

You can use a couple of methods that will make it easier to ask the person you know.framing the question as a suggestion is one of them. You can ask, "What are you doing this weekend?"You can say "I was going to go to the movies" if they say not sure.Would you come if you weren't doing anything? It is possible to frame the question like it was their idea. You can ask about the best Mexican restaurant in the area. You can say "Sounds good" if they reply "La Tacerquio".Do you want to go for lunch with me?
