How To Be a Hipster (Teen Boys)

You don't have to look at other guys like that, now you can act like one as well.If you master the art of dressing and acting like the trendiest people on social media, you can join the culture that fights against mainstream culture.

Step 1: Slowly you will change your appearance.

You can't change yourself quickly as you begin to be a Hipster. It will be too expensive and you will look like a poser. You should make alterations to your closet one step at a time, and be patient with yourself as you learn how to be more authentic. The goal is to avoid mainstream fashions which are difficult to define.Being trendy is about looking different than everyone else. It's ironic that you may end up looking like other people who are trying to be different.

Step 2: Wear a lot of neutral colors.

Black is the number one color. It goes with everything, is svelte, and is compatible with other colors. If you want to avoid looking gothic, pair black with bright colors or a mix of olive, navy, and khaki.Don't match your colors exactly. You don't want the same thing repeated over and over in your body. You can mix styles and patterns.Pair your jacket and pants with a plain shirt because there are two different kinds of stripes on them.

Step 3: Outfits with unique pieces.

Your goal is to look different and stand out from the crowd.A vintage leather or denim jacket V-neck t-shirts in plain colors, Button down flannel shirts, hoodies, or baggy sweaters, and a beanie or vintage brimmed hat are all you will need.

Step 4: Tailor your pants to fit your body type.

The pants are an important part of the wardrobe.Your pants should be very tight, like a pair of skinny jeans, jogger pants or 70s style bell bottoms. If you're looking for a day-to-day option, skinny jeans are your best bet.

Step 5: Get a pair of glasses.

The frames for both men and women are black.A pair of brightly colored ones can help you stand out even more.If you don't wear glasses or contacts, invest in a pair of sunglasses that are mirrored and have the same square-off shape to appear mysterious and cool.

Step 6: Accessorize with hats, bags, and scarves.

There are accessories that aren't just for girls.People defy the norm. You can get a tote bag from your local record store or a messenger bag for biking around. It is possible to wear a scarf on your neck with a deep V neck.See how other guys style their scarves with leather and metal cuffs to make them more rugged. For the more daring, there are options such as beanies, classic fedoras and porkpies.

Step 7: A beard or mustache is a good way to grow one.

The facial hair of some people is very long.It makes you look like a tough guy.Pull your hair back with bandanas, hats, or hair ties if you grow it out down to your shoulders. The more hair you have, the better you will look.Beard wax or mustache wax will keep your hair looking good.It is important to trim every once in awhile. You will look like a mountain man if you let your facial hair grow scraggly.Right now, either look is trendy.Don't worry, you can grow facial hair. It's an addition to the look.

Step 8: You can shop at thrift shops.

Mainstream stores at the mall are not always the best place to find the right pieces for your wardrobe. To find the right pair of distressed boots and pre-owned leather jackets, you need to dig around in little hole-in-the-wall shops. The older you are, the better.Since they're less expensive than name-brand stores, thrift and consignments stores are a good place to save money.

Step 9: You can find out what you like and dislike.

You need to be picky because you don't have a lot of time or money to do everything.Which coffee shop in town has the best drinks and which music is your favorite? You want to be able to tell people which restaurant is the best in town and why a certain film director is better than another. You should always have a reason for liking or dislike something.Explaining why one musician is superior to another is something you need to be able to do.They like something you don't, so be careful not to make them feel inferior.Don't be a jerk about it, but you can voice your opinions.

Step 10: No one has heard of old movies, video games and books.

There are quotes from films and song lyrics from obscure bands. It is better if you can impress people with your knowledge of things they have never heard of.You can impress people with your knowledge of old-school culture by watching classic 80s movies or looking for vintage game consoles. It's a big part of the culture to have nostalgic things.Any TV shows, bands or fashion trends from your childhood are worth looking into. There is pride in bringing things back from the past.

Step 11: You can eat and shop at secret places.

It's part of the trendy lifestyle to be on the lookout for secret restaurants or coffee menus. It gives you the satisfaction of knowing you found it first if you can find something exclusive and unheard of.You can either keep your discovery to yourself or share it with your friends.

Step 12: Say and do things for the sake of being ironic.

This is the most difficult part of being a trendy person.Being ironic is to be contrary to what people expect. It would be ironic if you wore a t-shirt with a classic rock band name on it, but instead preferred techno music.Another form of irony is sarcasm.People would expect you to react in a different way to events. If you know your favorite band is coming to town and you are excited, you will react as if it is not a big deal.Irony isn't a concept everyone understands correctly. There are many ways in which people define irony.

Step 13: Pretend that you don't care about anything.

You do like and care about things in life, but you don't show it.By acting like you don't care about things, you will also be acting ironically. If they're not exciting, react apathetically.

Step 14: You should be interested in everything local.

If you want to explore the used book and record stores in your town, go to the farmer's market. You want to support smaller businesses and start-up companies instead of the big corporations that run the country. The attitude behind shop local for some people is that big companies don't care about them anyways. It's better to know the businesses in your area.

Step 15: You can be involved in the local music scene.

A secret show is a great place to find new bands to listen to with a small group of people.Independent musicians without a major record label are many of the artists that you will want to listen to.It is a staple genre in any music library.Your local record shop has a lot of flyers and people who can help you find shows and bands.Any vintage or old music is also included. It is possible to show people that you are cultured and well-rounded with your music tastes. You can still stay true to your own music tastes even if you want to join the trendy community. There are many different genres of music that you will find new favorites.

Step 16: You should have a social media presence.

Some of the biggest platforms for people like you and me are:You can post photos from the secret juice bar in the yoga studio downtown or share articles about new bands. You can use the internet to show other people your outfits of the day and how you are working on the lifestyle.

Step 17: It's possible to go vegan.

Hippies are often confused with slackers, but in some ways they are the same.Going vegan, not eating or consuming any animal products, is an active way to deviate from a mainstream lifestyle while also helping the environment.

Step 18: You can use a bike to get around town.

Buying a fixed gear bike will allow you to use it for your main transportation. You will be working out and helping the environment at the same time.

Step 19: Document your adventures if you travel a lot.

You can treat your hometown as a whole new world to explore if you choose to.You can use social media to find new places to visit.Make sure that your phone and camera are charged and that you have enough space for all of the pictures you want to take.If you do travel to other cities, use new companies likeAirbnb to book quirky places to stay instead of a typical hotel. Before you go to a new place, make sure to research where the cool locals hang out.

Step 20: Hang out with other people.

The culture and attitude of being a true Hipster can be learned by being around other like-minded people. You don't have to completely change groups of friends, but you do need to make new friends. The independent coffee shops, record, book, or comic shops are some of the most popular watering holes.
