How To Be Smart and Cool at the Same Time

Being smart is cooler than ever thanks to the geek chic movement. Some people feel likeflowers.Being cool isn't about changing who you are, it's about building confidence and treating other people with respect.

Step 1: Take a look at the situation.

What do you think about your current situation? Are you looking for more friends?Do you consider yourself to be a nerd or geeky? How smart are you?Are you hoping to be more respected?Being a nerd can be cool if you embrace it.You can change how people see you if you're being labeled this way.

Step 2: Good hygiene.

It's hard for people to like you if you look dirty or smell funny. It's a good idea to look your best to shower and wear deodorant.Floss your teeth. It's important to care for your hair.Wear clothes that are clean. If you're interested in makeup, only wear it.Most people don't pay attention to glasses or braces.

Step 3: Dress nicely.

Everyone has their own style. It's important that you wear well-fitting clothing to help you look your best. You should choose colors that match.Wear one color at a time with neutrals. You can boost your style even more by figuring out your season color and body type. You can pick clothes that flatter you.

Step 4: Keeping a balanced perspective about obsessions is important.

It's okay to have interests that are not in line with the mainstream. It's not healthy to let yourself get too upset over things that don't matter. It's cooler to embrace your obsessions than it is to hide them. You should cultivate other interests as well.If you get tired of one of your interests, you can have something fun to do.

Step 5: Even light physical activity can be done with time.

Your strong brain will be protected by a strong body.It is possible to boost your mood and thinking skills with exercise. It's better to take a walk around the neighborhood with a friend.

Step 6: Don't engage in rude or destructive behavior if you're cool.

Bad habits such as drinking excessive alcohol, experimenting with addictive drugs, and slacking off won't help you in the long run.You should keep doing your best.

Step 7: You should learn to listen.

Sometimes you don't notice that people are bored but you think they are interested. If you can't think of anything to say, ask a question.People talk about themselves.Don't let the other person or people speak if you want to hold up a conversation, but listen when they are talking. It's a good idea to practice your speaking skills with a sibling or neighbor.

Step 8: Start small when talking about your interests.

Sometimes people ask what you like to do because they want to make a conversation or find something in common with you.If they ask a specific question, give them a brief overview.Ask them what they like to do, since most people like talking about themselves.Mentioning a more mainstream activity that you enjoy, such as shopping, visiting the beach, or trying out new restaurants, will make you feel better about your nerdy hobbies.Don't say "I make the best web-pages without even using any programs" if you want to make websites.I make them with Notepad because I know how to code and I hate how the editors force you to conform, but I also like to play games on the Dalaran server.Say, "I like to use the computer and play games."If they ask you specifically, say "I make websites" or " I like to play a game".

Step 9: Don't brag.

Don't say that you are better than someone else. You think you're being cool, but it's not.Do not be a know-it-all who always corrects people's ideas.

Step 10: Ignore the jerks.

Getting into fights and letting people bait you is not cool.Don't reply to someone if they insult you.If they want to be rude, that's their problem.Don't lower your mentality. If they keep bothering you, you can either walk away or use a comeback. It doesn't mean that you should never take constructive criticism. There is a huge difference between someone saying "I think you're a loser" and someone telling you to stop disrupting people.

Step 11: It's best to be easy to talk to.

Do your best to be kind to other people.Work on your listening skills by giving a few words of praise.People will respect you and think highly of you if you are pleasant to be around.Show respect to people who don't know as much as you do.Try to be a friend and teach them anything they want to know, instead of lording your superiority over them.If needed, set boundaries. If someone tries to copy your homework, you could say "I'm not willing to cheat you of a learning opportunity by letting you copy my work."
