How To Call the Corners

Step 12: You can cast your circle by walking around it clockwise 3 times.

Imagine a white light coming from the circle as you walk.Take deep, steady breaths, and keep your mind focused on the positive energy you're building.While you are doing this, you may hold an athame.

Step 13: You can start in the north or east.

If you start in the north, you will have a stable foundation for your work.You could start in the east because it's where the sun rises.If you're learning a formal practice, choose what feels right to you or follow your traditions.It's a good idea to follow your intuition and do what is right for you.It may be different from someone else's path because it is your spiritual path.

Step 14: Quarter calls are used to call each corner.

Use a confident voice to say the words you wrote or borrowed when you turn toward the direction you are calling.If you prefer, you can read them from a book or sheet of paper.If you have a Book of Shadows, you can write your calls in it.As part of your ritual, you might want to read them from the book.Before you make your next quarter call, turn to the next direction.

Step 15: If you're using them, light the candles associated with each corner.

If you're using corresponding candles, light the candle that represents the element after each call.A lighter, match, stick of incense, or another candle can be used.When you release the corners, you'll extinguish the candles.

Step 16: Stand in the center and say thank you to your goddess, god, or spirit.

You can either acknowledge their presence or call them to your circle.The goddess, god, or spirit are appealed to by some practitioners.If you would like, you can call on specific deities.If you don't fit into your spiritual path, you might skip this step.
