A Ring doorbell will let you see who comes to your door from your phone.Whether you have an original Ring doorbell or a newer Ring 2, you can charge it with just a few tools and a charging cable.
Step 1: If the Ring doorbell's battery is low, you should check it.
If your Ring battery is low, look at your notifications on your phone.Ring will email you to let you know that the battery needs to be charged.If you open the Ring application, you can check the percentage on the battery-shaped icon.
Step 2: The screws need to be removed with a screwdriver.
The Ring doorbell box has an orange screwdriver that can be used to remove the two security screws on the bottom of the doorbell.You can use a small screwdriver.
Step 3: The doorbell needs to be moved up and down.
If you want to remove the Ring doorbell from the wall, place your fingers on one side of the doorbell and thumb on the other.Pull the doorbell off the mount.
Step 4: Plug the small end of the cable into the doorbell.
Go to the right-hand side of the device and look for the plug.Ring gives you a small orange cable in the box, or you can use any cord that you have handy.
Step 5: Plug the other end of the cable into the power source.
To confirm that its charging, look at the circle on the front of your Ring doorbell device to see if it is lit up.A blue light will move around the circle when your Ring is charging.You will need to call Ring customer support if the blue light isn't lighting up.The fastest way to charge your Ring is with a 2.1 Amp wall charger.It can take up to 12 hours to charge your Ring.
Step 6: If the light on the front is blue, it's time to plug the cable.
The Ring is ready to be put back on the mount by the door.For 6 to 12 months, your ring should be charged.If your Ring app still indicates that the battery is low, don't worry, it will update once the Ring is activated by motion.
Step 7: Attach your ring to the mount.
From the top down, slide the Ring back onto the mount.The security screws need to be put back into the bottom of the brackets.
Step 8: There is a doorbell button and a motion detector.
Wait about 30 seconds after attaching your Ring to the mount, then press the doorbell to see if it works.Move where you have your Ring set to detect motion to test the motion detector.
Step 9: If the Ring 2 doorbell's battery is low, you should check it out.
If Ring has told you that your Ring 2 battery is low, look at your notifications.Ring will email you to let you know that the battery needs to be charged.If you open the Ring application, you can check the percentage on the battery-shaped icon.
Step 10: The doorbell has a security screw.
The Ring 2 box has an orange screwdriver that you can use to remove the security screw at the bottom of the device.You can use a small screwdriver.
Step 11: The Ring 2 device has a faceplate.
Rest your fingers under the video camera lens at the top of the silver face plate to remove the ring 2's battery cover.Pull your thumb away from the wall by placing it in the center of the faceplate.It should come off easily.
Step 12: The battery should be removed from the device.
The black release tab can be found at the bottom of the device.The battery can slide out of its compartment if this tab is released.If you have an extra Ring 2 battery, you can keep it on while the current battery charges.
Step 13: Plug the small end of the cable into the doorbell.
Attach the small end of the cable to the battery.Ring gives you a small orange cable in the box, or you can use any cord that you have handy.
Step 14: Plug the other end of the cable into the power source.
Look at your Ring 2 battery to see if the orange and blue lights are on.This shows that your Ring 2 is working.The green light will be on once charged.The fastest way to charge your Ring 2 is with a 2.1 Amp wall charger.It can take up to 10 hours to charge your Ring 2.
Step 15: The orange light will turn off when the battery is unplugged.
If the green light doesn't change, you have to remove the battery from the charger.The Ring 2 battery is ready to be put back into the device.For 6 to 12 months, your ring should be charged.If your Ring app still indicates that the battery is low, don't worry, it will update once the Ring is activated by motion.
Step 16: Take the battery out of its compartment.
The Ring 2 battery can be put back into the device by holding it under it and pushing it up.When the battery is in place, you will hear a click sound.
Step 17: The faceplate should be re-attached.
Just below the bottom of the camera, you can get the faceplate back by angling it towards it.Press the rest of the faceplate against the battery pack after sliding the top into place.To secure it in place, use a screwdriver to remove the security screw from the bottom of the device.
Step 18: Ring 2 doorbell button and motion detector to be tested.
Wait 30 seconds after you put the Ring 2 battery back in.Press the doorbell button to test the bell on the device.Move where you have your Ring 2 set to detect motion to test the motion detector.
