How To Clean an Oven with Baking Soda

Many of the methods used to clean an oven involve the use of chemicals.Baking soda is a great alternative to harsh chemicals.If you want to clean your oven, coat it with a baking soda paste and let it sit overnight.

Step 1: Remove the oven racks.

Pizza stones or oven thermometers are things you should remove from the oven.Before you start cleaning, make sure nothing is left in the oven.

Step 2: Take out the loose build-up.

There may be a lot of burnt food in your oven.Before applying baking soda, try to remove as much of the loose build-up as possible.To remove the loose matter, use a spatula.You don't have to remove everything, just remove what is loose.

Step 3: Baking soda and water can be used to make a paste.

In a small bowl, mix 12 cup of baking soda with 3 liters of water.The paste can be easily spread if you stir the mixture.If you don't create a spreadable paste, adjust the amount of water used.

Step 4: The paste should be spread inside the oven.

If you have rubber gloves, you can spread the paste by hand.You can spread the paste with a clean spatula if that doesn't work for you.The paste should be applied to the interior of the oven.The paste should not be applied to the heating elements.It is okay if the paste is brown in some areas of the oven.

Step 5: The paste needs to be left on overnight.

If you allow the paste to sit for 12 hours, it will work best.You can let the paste sit for 40 minutes if you don't have enough time.If you let it sit for a short period of time, you may have to repeat the process for the deep clean.

Step 6: The baking soda needs to be wiped off.

You can wipe the paste off with a damp cloth.Warm water can be used to damp the cloth.To get most of the paste off, you will have to scrub.

Step 7: Remove the rest of the paste.

You may not be able to get all of the paste off with a damp cloth.Use a spatula to remove the rest of the paste from the oven if that is the case.There may be some leftover stuff, but you can use vinegar to remove it.

Step 8: You can spray it inside the oven.

Put it in a spray bottle.The areas where the paste remains should be sprayed with vinegar.The baking soda will foam up.

Step 9: The oven needs to be wiped down again.

The foamy areas of the oven should be wiped off with a damp cloth.If it's still there, use more and wipe again.Continue until the oven is clean.

Step 10: The oven racks need to be cleaned.

Baking soda can be put over the oven racks.You can spray or pour white vinegar on the racks.The baking soda should foam.Put the rack in a tub or hot water.The racks should be in the water overnight.

Step 11: The oven racks should be replaced.

When you're done cleaning, put the oven rack back in.You can put it back in the oven if you want.The oven is ready to use.
