How To Clean Leather Furniture

It is surprisingly easy to care for leather furniture. You can keep your furniture in tiptop shape with regular upkeep, like vacuuming and wiping it down with a microfiber cloth once a month.ink, grease, and drink stains can all be cleaned up with a little care and attention.

Step 1: It's a good idea to vacuum the entire piece of furniture once a month.

You can use your vacuum to sweep the cracks and crevices of the furniture.Remove the cushions and vacuum away the dirt. The furniture can be cleaned with the soft brush attachment.Don't pick up the entire vacuum and put it on the furniture, use the vacuum attachment. The leather could be easily scratched by the weight of the vacuum.

Step 2: The furniture should be wiped down with a microfiber cloth.

The entire piece of furniture should be wiped down with a dry microfiber cloth.Start at the top of the furniture and work your way down to areas that have not been wiped clean. If you notice areas that are stained or dirty, you can treat them later.

Step 3: To make a cleaning solution, mix equal parts water and vinegar.

In a small bowl, add 2 cup (120 mL) of water and white vinegar. If you want to prevent spilling the mixture, place the bowl on the ground. If the leather doesn't react well to the new cleaning products, try them out on an inconspicuous area.

Step 4: The water and vinegar can be used to clean up dirty areas.

Put a microfiber cloth into the solution and squeeze it out to make it damp but not dripping.Use a circular motion to clean dirt.It is not necessary to clean the entire piece of furniture because it will not hurt the leather. It is much easier to scratch and damage leather that is not protected.

Step 5: Place a microfiber towel over the water and vinegar.

Take a microfiber towel and wipe the furniture off with it.Don't let the wet spots air dry.If the microfiber cloth gets too wet, use a dry towel.

Step 6: It's a good idea to apply a conditioner to your furniture every 6 to 12 months.

Before applying the conditioner, read the instructions carefully. You can apply the conditioner to a clean cloth and rub it into the leather using gentle motions. Before you use the furniture again, make sure the conditioner is left alone. Before applying the conditioner to the entire piece of furniture, you need to test it out.

Step 7: Blot away spills as soon as possible.

To get rid of the bulk of a spill, you should grab some clean paper towels.Once that is done, take a clean, dry washcloth and rub the stained area with it.Any liquid that has already started to set into the leather should be drawn up by blotting the spill.

Step 8: To clean grease, use a dry cloth and baking soda.

If your leather is stained with butter, body lotion, oil, or any other kind of grease, use a dry washcloth to wipe off as much of it as you can.Baking soda should be sprinkled over the stain so it is completely covered.Remove the baking soda from the stain with a clean cloth.Water shouldn't be used to clean grease stains.Water could cause the grease to set into the leather. It is easier to wipe away grease with the help of the baking soda.

Step 9: Rub rubbing alcohol on leather furniture to remove ink stains.

Put a cotton ball in rubbing alcohol and squeeze it out.The cotton ball should be rubbed against the ink stain to remove it from the leather.Rather than rubbing the area, use an up-and-down motion.Once the stain has been removed, stop. You may need to use more than one cotton ball.If you notice the cotton looks stained, you can swap it out for a fresh one.

Step 10: To remove juice and soda stains, use a clean cloth and distilled water.

If your leather furniture has been stained by water-based liquids, you need to clean it with distilled water. The stain should be left to air-dry.The water and cloth will clean the liquid.

Step 11: Lemon juice and cream of Tartar can be used to clean beige leather.

The lemon juice and cream of Tartar should be put in a small bowl.Spread the mixture over the stained area.Allow it to sit for 10 minutes and then wipe it clean with a damp cloth. The lemon juice could lighten the leather, so don't use this method on darker pieces.
