How To Cut Shaggy Bangs

A relaxed and elegant hairstyle that frames your face at a downward angle is known as curtain or Bardot bangs. You can make your own hair changes with a set of trimming or texturizing shears. It's possible to create a fun new look for yourself.

Step 1: Your hair should be in front of your face with a wide-toothed comb.

To remove tangles, brush through your hair.Instead of brushing hair to the side, use a wide-toothed comb to arrange your future bangs in front of your forehead and eyes. It's easier to section off your bangs when you visualize how much hair you have.

Step 2: There is a triangular portion of hair in front of your forehead.

In front of your forehead and eyes, use your comb to section off a 3 to 4 in section of hair.If you want your bangs to frame your face, make sure that the section of hair falls into your head.If you have thinner hair, you may want to section off a portion of it.This portion of hair should be triangular in shape when it is sectioned off.

Step 3: This portion of hair should be split into two parts, A and B.

To divide your bangs, use a comb.To make sure that your shaggy bangs have the same amount of hair, check both sides. The left portion of hair should be labeled section A and the right portion section B to prevent confusion.Since these bangs will be framing your face, you want them to look the same.

Step 4: You should brush section A on the right side of your head.

Pull your comb through section A by pinching the hair between your fingers.Next to section B is this portion of hair.To figure out how much hair you want to trim, use your fingers. It's best to keep around 1 to 2 in of hair dangling beneath your fingers. You should pinch more hair than you plan. It's easier to see and trim your bangs if you pull them to the right.

Step 5: The bangs should be cut at a downward angle.

Use a pair of scissors or texturizing shears to make small adjustments to the hair on your fingers. You can create a feathery effect along the edge of your shaggy bangs if you trim your hair in short, vertical or angle motions.Don't cut the entire section of pinched hair, instead trim away a few millimeters at a time. This type of trimming won't be as precise so try to avoid making 1 horizontal cut.

Step 6: To make it look better, trim the edge of section A.

To make more precise adjustments to section A of your bangs, pinch the bottom 1 in of the hair. You can even out the edge of your bangs with your trimming shears. The shortest portion of your hair will be around your eye level, while the longest portion is close to your chin.

Step 7: Section A to B has the shortest tendrils of hair.

From the right side of section A, pinch a small section of the shortest hair.If you want to know how long your bangs need to be, move this small portion of hair over to section B.The process helps your bangs look better.

Step 8: To the left side of your head is section B.

Pull section A between section B and your middle finger. To make sure that both sections of hair are the same length, drag your comb through this part of the hair.

Step 9: Cut your hair at a downward angle.

Take section B between your fingers and hold it close to your pointer and middle fingers. To angle the hair, use your shears to trim it at a 45 degree angle.Light, gentle motions should be used to trim the hair.Sections A and B are mirror images of one another.

Step 10: To make small adjustments, cut your bangs vertically.

Continue holding section B between your fingers and look for any hair that is not straight. To make the edge of your bangs even, trim the bottom edge with short, vertical motions. You can make more precise adjustments to your bangs with vertical cuts.

Step 11: If sections A and B are even in length, compare them.

Stand in front of a mirror and hold both parts of your hair together. The long and short ends are both equal in length.

Step 12: Make sure you brush and trim your hair.

Use a wide-toothed comb to smooth out your hair.To trim your shaggy bangs, use your trimming shears or texturizing shears to trim the bottom of your hair with short, vertical motions. When you are happy with the way your bangs look, make small changes.Extra hair can be cut away, but not back to your bangs. As you cut, keep this in mind.

Step 13: The sides of your head are where your bangs should be.

Section A is to the left side of your face.A curling iron can be used to add more lift and style to your hair.
