How To Decide Whether to Call Someone

Do you ever stand in front of the phone and not know if you should call someone up or not? Some advice to help you make a decision.

Step 1: It's a good idea to know the terms of your relationship with the person you're talking to.

It is important that you have a good relationship with that person. If you don't get along well with the person, you might be less likely to call them up.Unless you have something important to discuss with them, don't call them. It's not appropriate to call them just to chat or find out something from other people. If you're just acquaintances, a phone call wouldn't make a difference. In case the person is superior to you, be respectful and polite. You can call them anywhere if you're bosom buddies. Some people don't accept this even from their closest friends.

Step 2: Decide if you want to call them or not.

You must have a reason to call them. There are a few phone rules that you need to know. It's not a good idea to call someone up before 08:00 in the morning or after 2PM unless there is an urgent need, which is not the case.It would be beneficial to know when the person is at home and when they aren't.If the person is in the middle of something important, it may be very annoying to call them just to chat.If you're not sure, leave a message. If you're not on good terms with that person, make sure you don't call them. When you have to tell someone a relatively important issue, but one that can wait, just call or leave a message, it doesn't matter what terms you are with that person. It's a good idea to prepare a little speech before you call to make an invitation, so that you don't forget to mention important things about the time and place you want to meet that person.A speech is important if you want to call someone that makes you feel nervous, like your boss or crush.Ignore all phone rules if you have to tell that person something.Do it.If you want to insult that person, make them feel bad, or fight with them, hold onto it.Don't, that's not right.Take a deep breath, calm down and think about it again. Is your phone call productive for your relationship with that person?Probably not.If you have a bad habit of calling someone up just to talk, then put the phone down and do something else.If the person you want to call is someone who enjoys listening as much as you do, this will be very annoying for the "victim".

Step 3: Don't wait too long.

You'd better not call them up if you think too much about it.You may miss an interesting conversation if you can't find any logical reasons for not calling them.Who knows?
