How to dig your own swimming pool is a 10 step process.

It makes a big difference if you place the pool in an unshaded area and out of the wind. Before you start digging, find the best spot.

Next, mark the area with stakes or string lines. If you are building a concrete deck, mark out the pool and the space surrounding it.

You're going to need some equipment to finish the job.You can use mini excavators and wheel loaders to dig a hole and move the dirt away from the pool site.

If you don't have enough room, you may need to cut down trees. If you need a stump grinder, look for a rental provider.

The grass and topsoil should be removed using a skidsteer loader or flat shovels and scrapers.

Use string and pegs to figure out the right angles. When we drop in some mesh, it will be squared.

Drop the steel reinforcement in the base to give it strength. To make sure the mesh is in the middle of the poured concrete, the pillars have to be lifted. My base was 10 to 12 inches thick.Only 8 inches is needed.

You will need to add drain to the system. Two drains are needed to avoid someone getting sucked onto a single drain.

The concrete should have a certain amount of water in it.We had to add more water for 5 years to get mine to flow.

Concrete can get into the pipe system if the drains are covered with wood and silicone.

Blocks can be added to build the wall. The walls were strengthened with a horizontal steel rod reinforcement between the blocks.

The blocks should be filled with concrete. The reinforcing rods up the center of the blocks have been extended. The height of the pool has to be lifted by every block.

A 10mm thick render coat was added.I plastered the sections between the battens. The sides and the base are visible. The render mix has a white fluid in it.

One drain has a one-way valve that allows water to escape into the pool when it's empty.

It will take a few days to fill the pool.Adding chemicals to your pool will prevent it from attracting bugs and algae.

I was thinking about building a pool.I'm going to make a video on this topic.

You did not make a shallow end.Maybe you can tell me why pools are always painted blue or green.I think painting them black would help warm the water.

If you had a black pool, you wouldn't see any dirt on the ground.

You do not need to clean it if you can't see it.The only reason to clean it is its appearance. The chlorine takes out the germs and the filters remove the floaties. There is dirt on the bottom of the pool. You would paint it mud brown if you didn't want to see it.This would be very odd.We aren't used to seeing clear brown water, so I think that black/dark blue/very dark green would be a safer colour for caucasian swimmers. The pool would be less safe if it was used by people with dark skin.

The reason most pools are painted these colors is that they look the most attractive. For most of the summer, the water in black pools is too hot to swim in, even though it warms up quicker in the spring. What region you live in will affect this as well.A pool in Maine may be the best place to paint if someone in Arizona doesn't want dark colors.

Good point.I live in Canada. The pool would have 2 feet of ice on it by the spring, and for us a hot summer day is in the 80's.Their summers are 120 in the shade and it doesn't get down to the 80's at night.Someone is doing a dive into 3 feet of water and not knowing where the bottom is.There are 6 white bathroom wall tiles in a grid.

The pool is 26'8" long and 13'4" wide.Don't dive because it is deep enough to swim in.The pool is large enough for children to learn to swim. The best shape is a rectangular pool.Your pool looks great, you did a great job on the project. If repairs are needed, you know where the hidden structures are.I'm sure you and your family will enjoy using this pool for a long time. Thanks for posting this!

Do not lunge?Didn't see a high board, how do you think racing swimmers get into a pool?I didn't see a ladder either. If we're being safely conscious and all, don't park your truck in it.

Your comment is ignorant and sardonic.Divers and swimmers compete in regulation pools that are deeper than 5'4".The minimum depth for Olympic swimming pools is 6'7".BigJRM's recommendation to not dive into the pool is correct.

Excellent job on your pool.I'm pretty sure BigJRM wasn't referring to shallow racing dives, so there was no need for the sarcasm from Itsmescotty.Kids get broken necks every summer when they dive too deeply into shallow waters, because they think "diving" only refers to deeper headfirst plunges into the water. It is arrogant to ignore safety cautions issued out of genuine concern for others.

The father of the friend dug a pool by hand.On Sunday he would sit in a lawn chair by his unfinished pool and read the newspaper while he dug two wheelbarrows. It took the father about a year to finish the hole because it was cheaper than a health club. When he found a place that needed to be filled, he kept a bucket of dirt in the car.

Wow!This is amazing. How much did you save doing it yourself?Thank you.
