How To Do the Jumping Card Trick

If you can jump a card off the deck and back into your hand, you have telekinetic powers. The card comes back to you as you deal it.The real secret is only for real magicians. No one will be able to tell the difference between your "magical abilities" and your slight hand skills.

Step 1: The deck of cards is soft and bouncy.

This trick requires a bit of give to the table as it needs to work as a spring-board for the card to jump back.

Step 2: The card should be held near the upper right corner with your thumb on the back.

The cards should not be dealt like normal. You can hold the deck on the left side if you're left handed.

Step 3: The face points in front of you and the bottom left corner of the card is on the table.

Since you're not really dealing with the person in front of you, this is not a big deal. You want to deal the card standing.

Step 4: The card's bottom left corner touches the table.

Only this corner has to be touched.Curl the card away from you by pushing from your index finger. The piece of the card on the table will begin to slip as you press.

Step 5: Push until the card "leaps" backwards, varying the speed and pressure until you have control of the jump.

To work, this needs to happen in one fluid motion.Repetition is important as you need to get used to the bend of the cards so you can control it.

Step 6: Practice catching the card on top of the deck.

You need to stick the landing if you want to make the card jump. The card always shoots back face down if you practice the movement. If you want the card to slide back on, you have to lower your other hand. The "jumping hand" can be used to follow the card back to the deck, so that you can re-adjust any mistakes.
