How to fix a clothes dryer when clothes are caught between it and the wall

I don't like things that cost me money. When my GE Dryer started ruining my clothes, it had my attention very quickly. If your clothes are starting to appear with dark marks, you need to read this article.

Sometimes welding isn't necessary when a broken machine can be fixed for pennies on the dollar.

Black marks have been left on our clothes by something in our washer or dryer.I dropped 800 bux on a new washing machine this year and am not excited about the prospect of dropping another large chunk of cash replacing our dryer.

I was researching on my favorite search engine and came across an article about how to take apart a GE Dryer. Is it possible to be that hard?It wasn't as hard as I could have imagined.

I discovered after my research that front drum wear is very common.I stuck my head in mine, and it was obvious that the bearings were toast.

The drum support assembly has a drum sitting on it.I believe the clothes were getting caught and twisted between the plastic and the drum in two holes in the top right and left of the pictures.

Remove the two screws in the frame that go up into the top panel by using a #1 phillips screwdriver.

If you want to remove the two screws from the front panel, reach in at the top of both sides of the drum. The drum front bearing support can be seen when you pull the front panel toward you.

Don't pull the front panel too far away or hard because there are wires on the left side.Lean it against something if you pivot it to the left.

There are four bearings on the drum support.3 out of the 4 on mine were worn out. There are black marks on the hard plastic where the drum was rubbing.

You are ready to reassemble once you get them in the mail.If you perform step 1 and see that they are bad, you can order the parts ahead of time so that you don't need it in the meantime.

The four new bearings need to be installed.Being careful not to bend them too far, they have a hole/slot in one side that you hook in and tuck the other side into the plastic.

Put it all back together and then put your head in the dryer to make sure your bearings are still there. The drum can no longer pinch clothes because it sits up off the support.

Make sure the dryer doesn't make weird noises by turning it on.You should pat yourself on the back. You did not have to buy a new one.Once you have both of them, you will realize that they are just a big hairdryer.
