How To Fix cigarette burns in a car seat.

You and your passengers can see the holes caused by cigarette burns. You don't need to pay a lot of money to have them fixed. You can find burn holes at your local hardware store.

Step 1: You can collect fibers that match the seat by finding a spot in your car.

Under your seat is a good place to put it.It is possible to get fibers from the carpet that is hidden. If you want to expose carpet, inspect the panelling first. The area where the panel meets the door is covered by weather stripping.Pull back the weather stripping only in this area if it's true.Try to find the clips. These are between the door and the panel.Use your fingers or a panel pop tool to pry off the panel at the clips. You can pry the panel from the bottom if you can't find the clips.Don't bend the plastic permanently.

Step 2: To cover the burn hole, shave off some fibers with your razor blade.

You can run your razor blade along the area.If you apply too much pressure, the blade will cut into the fabric.

Step 3: If it was removed, you need to re install it.

The clips should snap back into place.Guide the weather stripping back into place and apply pressure if you pulled it back.

Step 4: The glue should be applied to the bottom of the hole.

Some of the space will be filled.Allow it to dry.You can skip this step if the hole is not deep.A small piece of foam can be used to fill the burn hole.To fit the hole, cut the piece of foam.Attach fabric glue to the bottom of the hole.Allow it to dry.

Step 5: Put fabric glue inside the burn hole.

Do not try to fill the hole with glue.Multiple layers of glue and fibers can be done later.

Step 6: The fabric glue should be applied with matching fibers.

Place some fibers on top of the glue and pat them in place.Attach the hole to the seat with layers of glue and fibers.Allow it to dry.

Step 7: Remove the piece of leather from the burn hole with a scalpel.

Don't enlarge the hole.Only what is necessary is cut out.

Step 8: Use the tweezers to push the cloth patch into the hole.

Since the patch is larger than the hole, you may have to wiggle it around to submerge it.

Step 9: Spread out any bunching by flattening the patch underneath the leather.

It needs to be completely flat underneath the hole. This patch will help to smoothen the leather surrounding the hole and give you a backing to fill it later.

Step 10: The glue should be underneath the edges of the hole.

Use a toothpick to apply glue or a knife to large holes. To adhere the subpatch to the leather, press down firmly on the outer edges of the hole.Allow it to dry completely. It is possible to speed up the drying process with a hairdryer.

Step 11: There is a layer of flexible glue in the hole.

Make sure it reaches all the edges of the hole.Allow the layer to dry.Continue until the hole is completely filled. If using a hairdryer to dry the layers, position the dryer so that the air blows across the glue or filler instead of directly onto it to prevent heat and moisture build up.

Step 12: The last layer needs to be level with the edges.

Sanding the layer will smoothen the dried glue so that it matches the surface of the seat.Don't apply too much pressure while sanding. If the repaired layer dips beneath the surface of the hole, you need to add another layer and let it dry before sanding again.

Step 13: A sponge is needed for a leather seat.

Once the hole is completely covered, apply the pigment.Allow it to dry. After the leather is completely dry, you may want to apply a leather conditioner to the seat.

Step 14: The repaired hole should be coated with vinyl spray paint.

To completely cover the repair, spray it with an even layer.Make sure you don't spray too much.Allow it to dry completely. The entire seat should be re-painted if the seat is in poor condition.
