How To Fix the Start Menu in Windows

The Start menu may be freezing or not responding to clicks.It may look different than you think, or it may be missing from your screen.You can learn how to fix the Start menu in Windows 10 by unhiding the taskbar, restarting Windows Explorer, checking for updates, and creating a new user account.The Start menu can be changed, such as recently and most-used apps.

Step 1: Press Win+i.

The Windows settings window can be opened by pressing the Windows key.If you don't see the Start menu, use this method.

Step 2: Click personalize.

Near the middle of the menu is an icon of a desktop and paintbrush.

Step 3: Click on the Taskbar.

The last option is on the left side of the window.

Step 4: Click the switch next to "lock the taskbar" to turn it on.

It's on if the switch looks blue.

Step 5: Click the switch next to "Automatically taskbar hide in desktop mode/tablet mode" to turn it off.

The feature is off if the switch is black or white.When this feature is disabled, you'll be able to see your screen.When your computer is on desktop mode, "Automatically hide taskbar indesktop mode" will change the settings of the taskbar.

Step 6: The Task Manager can be opened by pressing Shift+Esc.

Start menu issues can be fixed by restarting Windows Explorer.This may need to be repeated in a few hours, minutes, or days.

Step 7: Go to the Processes tab.

The Performance and App history tab is at the top of the window.

Step 8: Click on Windows Explorer.

You can find processes that start with a "W" by pressing on the keyboard.

Step 9: Click restart.

All open file manager windows will close as Windows Explorer restarts.

Step 10: Click Taskbar settings if you want to change it.

Click if you want to open the settings.If you don't like what you see in the Start menu, you can use this method to change it.

Step 11: Click start.

The option is on the left side of the window.

Step 12: The switches can be used to show what appears in Start.

You have the option to see more tiles in Start, the app list, recently added apps, suggestions, and a full-screen Start menu.You can show items that have been opened in Start and File Explorer.

Step 13: You can click X.

You can close the window if you make changes that will apply to the Start Menu.

Step 14: Press Win+i.

Pressing the Windows key will open a window.If the latest updates aren't installed, there can be odd Start menu issues.Updating Windows will hopefully solve your Start menu problems.

Step 15: Click on Update and Security.

This is at the bottom of the menu.

Step 16: If it's not active already, click Windows Update.

If the "Windows Update" tab is active when you open the menu, you can skip this step.

Step 17: Click here to check for updates.

There is a window on the right side.After you've clicked, any outstanding updates should begin installing.If they don't, restart your computer.

Step 18: Don't link your account with Microsoft.

If you do not see this, you don't need to worry about this step because you can skip it.Click if you want to create a new password.If nothing else has fixed your Start menu, you should create a new account to work with.

Step 19: If it isn't open yet, press Win+I.

You can open a Windows settings window by pressing the Windows key.

Step 20: Click Accounts.

This is usually next to a generic profile icon.

Step 21: Click Family or other users.

There is a vertical menu on the left side of the window.You can click if you are using Windows 10 enterprise.

Step 22: You can add someone else to the PC.

You should click this option under the "Other users" section.

Step 23: Click Next if you want to enter a password.

Click if you are using Windows 10 enterprise.

Step 24: Enter a password for enterprise users.

If you are using Windows 10 Home, you will skip this step.

Step 25: The new account should be an administrator.

You can open the settings and choose the account you created.Click if you want to.

Step 26: Go to the new account and sign out of the old one.

Click to log in and see the sign-in screen.If you want to move files from your old account to your new account, open File Explorer and expand.The files can be copied and pasted to your current folder.
