How To Get a Philippine Passport

Philippine citizens who wish to travel must have a Philippine passport.You can make an appointment online at the Department of Foreign Affairs website and have your passport delivered to your door.The whole process can take up to 12 weeks to complete, so make sure to plan ahead.

Step 1: The application for a passport needs to be prepared.

The requirements for first-time application are below.

Step 2: You have to have at least one piece of the picture ID.

It is necessary for you to prove your identity and fill out forms in order to get a passport.The IDs need to be government-issued and have your photo on them.The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Voter's ID can be obtained from the Election Officer with Dry Seal.The LTO has a driver's license.The student permit is accepted if it is in card format.The Integrated Department of Labor and Employment (iDOLE) issued the Firearms License Airman License for August 2016 onwards.For OFWs or Filipinos based in other countries, you can show your Philippine citizenship by showing your residence card or any other ID issued by your host government.Only those listed above will be accepted as valid ID.Postal ID, Philhealth ID and TIN ID are not accepted as primary valid IDs for Philippine passport application/renewal.The clearance is a supporting document, not a valid ID.

Step 3: Your birth certificate can be obtained from the Philippine Statistics Authority.

First time applicants have to submit a birth certificate.Birth certificates are not required if you are renewing your passport.You can get a birth certificate from PSA Helpline's website, pay for it online, and follow its progress.You can make a request by calling their hotline.The certificate will be delivered to you.You can get a birth certificate in person at the PSA Serbilis Outlet.Delivery dates can be found on the PSA's website.In most cases, you will receive your certificate in 3-9 working days.You can get your certificate within 3 working days if you apply in person at the Census Serbilis Center.The PSA is the major statistical agency in the Philippines.

Step 4: Get a marriage contract.

You may need to submit a marriage contract with your birth certificate if you are married to someone else.The complete list of additional requirements can be found on the DFA website.You need to submit a marriage contract issued by the PSA or a Certified True Copy from your Local Civil Registrar.You need to submit a marriage contract issued by the PSA, as well as a CTC from your LCR.The marriage must be reported to the PSA.The Commission of Filipino Overseas has a Guidance and Counseling Certificate of Attendance.You need to submit a Report of Marriage to the PSA.Marriage Contracts are the same as a Birth Certificate from the PSA.

Step 5: If you are under 18 years old, you should get additional documents from your parents.

Along with your birth certificate, your parents or guardians will need to submit additional documents such as a marriage contract or passport copy.Supporting ID documents like your School ID are required.If you or the minor is an orphan or illegitimate child, you should go onto the DFA website to see a complete list of additional requirements.PSA issued birth certificate is the general documentation requirement.A readable dry seal is required for applicants 8-17 years old.A Notarized Affidavit of Explanation must be submitted by the parent if the child has never attended school.A marriage certificate is required if the minor's parents are married.A valid passport is a valid identification document.There is a valid passport for the person travelling with a minor.The birth mother of an illegitimate child will be responsible for all documents required from a parent.

Step 6: If you are a Muslim, you need a certificate of tribal affiliation from the NCMF.

To apply for a Certificate, make a personal appearance at the Bureau of External Relations.You will need to submit a passport sized colour photo of yourself.If you want to use your Muslim name on your passport, you have to get an annotated birth certificate from the NSO.

Step 7: If you have dual citizenship, you should provide proof of Philippine citizenship.

These documents prove your citizenship to the Philippines and can be obtained from the Bureau of Immigration Office.If you were born outside of the Philippines, you will need an identification certificate if you applied for dual citizenship.

Step 8: All IDs and original documents can be photographed.

You need to make at least 2 copies of each document.The DFA will not continue with your appointment if you don't bring your original and photocopied documents.

Step 9: One piece of acceptable picture ID is required.

It is necessary for you to prove your identity and use it throughout the process of getting a passport.You need to have a photo on your IDs.The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has a list of acceptable government-issued IDs.The Land Transportation Office has a driver's license.The student permit can be used in card format.The Integrated Department of Labor and Employment (iDOLE) has a Firearms License Airman License.For OFWs or Filipinos based in other countries, you can show your Philippine citizenship by showing your residence card or any other ID issued by your host government.Only those listed above will be accepted as valid ID.Postal ID, Philhealth ID and TIN ID are not accepted as primary valid IDs for Philippine passport application/renewal.The clearance is only a supporting document and not a valid ID.

Step 10: You should bring your expired or expired passport with you.

Step 11: Obtain required certificates from the PSA to change your name.

Step 12: Revert your married name.

If you want to change your name to your birth name, you need a PSA issued Birth Certificate and any additional documents.If you want to change your name back to your maiden name, you must have a Birth Certificate from the PSA.If you are a widow, you must have a Death Certificate from the PSA.If you were divorced in the Philippines, you need to get a copy of the divorce decree from the Philippine Embassy or the foreign diplomatic or consular mission.An annotated PSA Marriage Contract is required.The annotated NSO Marriage Contract and Court Order effecting the annulment is required if your marriage was null and void.

Step 13: You should change your name to Muslim.

If you want to use your Muslim name as a result of being a convert, you need an Annotated Birth Certificate from the NSO.You have to have a National Commission on Muslim Filipinos or Office of Muslim Affairs Certificate of Conversion.If you are a Muslim who doesn't need to change your name, you only need a valid ID and recent expired or expired passport to get a passport.

Step 14: If you are a minor, you should get your birth certificate and parents' supporting documents.

Minors applying for the first time for a passport need to submit a PSA Birth Certificate.This also includes requiring parents to make an appearance at their DFA appointment, parents' marriage contracts, a photocopy of the passport of person whom they will be travelling with, and the minor's most recent passport.

Step 15: All IDs and documents can be photographed.

You need to make at least 2 copies of each document.The DFA will not continue with your appointment if you don't bring the original and photocopied documents.

Step 16: You can find the passport fees in your area.

You can choose to make an appointment at the DFA Aseana branch.Select the branch you want to make an appointment at, then click on "Passport Fees" on the DFA website.You have to pay P950.00 for regular 20-day processing or P1200.00 for express 10- day processing.If you make an appointment after 5:00 P.M., the DFA Aseana branch considers it as express processing.First time or renewal applicants are only dealt with by remote branches.If you need a citizenship evaluation, you will be directed to the Aseana branch.

Step 17: To make an appointment, call the DFA Appointment hotline.

A Customer Care Officer will help you with your passport application.If you are required to submit additional documentations, they will let you know.Avoid long time ups by choosing an appointment time early.A reference number and Print Code will be given to you by the Customer Care Officer.You can print your application from their website: https://www.passport.gov.ph/.You will be asked to input your first, middle and last name, reference number, and date of birth.

Step 18: You can make an appointment online.

You can set an appointment by going to the DFA website.Pick the DFA Aseana branch or another remote branch closest to you.You will be asked to complete an application.You will be asked to confirm a date and time for your appointment after completing the application.Avoid long time ups by choosing an appointment time early.The site will notify you of any additional documents you need to bring to your appointment after you have completed your application.It's a good idea to print out your application.A reference number and link to your application will be provided to you.

Step 19: Prepare for your appointment.

You need to have physical copies of your required documents.The DFA will not continue with your appointment if you don't have these documents.Remember to bring the original document if you make 2 copies of it.Bring your ID and documents.It's a good idea to dress sensibly.Don't wear tank tops, shorts, sandals, and flip-flops.If you are a minor, you need to be with your parent or guardian at the appointment.

Step 20: On your appointment date, go to the DFA Consular Office.

The DFA Consular Office is located in Paranaque City.Arrive 30 minutes before your appointment.If you arrive late or early, you won't be helped.You should have original and photocopied required documents with you.

Step 21: Go to the Application Counter and present your application.

The Information Counter is where they will direct you.

Step 22: The information counter has a queue number.

Wait for your number to show up on the monitor and then sit at the Processing Area.

Step 23: You can pay the processing fees at the passport section.

The Passport Enrollment Section is located on the second floor.

Step 24: After paying your fees, go to the Encoding Section.

Personal details and fingerprints will be recorded here.

Step 25: You can pick up your passport at the DFA or have it delivered to you.
