How To Get Offline Google Maps Directions on an iPhone

If you have an internet or cellular data connection, you can use the maps on your phone.

Step 1: You can open the app.

If you don't have a primary account in the Maps app, you'll need to use your password and email address.

Step 2: The bar has a search function.

This is at the top of the screen.

Step 3: You can type in a location's name.

You can type a city's name or neighborhood into the box.

Step 4: Search by tap.

There is a blue button on the keyboard.If your location's name pops up below the text field, you can tap that instead.

Step 5: The location's name can be tapped.

It is at the bottom of the screen.This will show your location on the screen.

Step 6: If you want to download, tap it.

It is to the right of the options.

Step 7: To download, select the area.

You can save everything you want by dragging the rectangular frame over your location.You can zoom in or out with your fingers by pinching them outward or inward.

Step 8: You can tap to download.

Immediately, your selected area will begin to download.You'll be able to access your downloaded location offline by typing it into the search bar.You may have to allow or deny download notifications.

Step 9: Go to the app on your phone.

Step 11: Pick a location's name or address.

For example, you could type in a university's address.

Step 12: Search with a tap.

It's at the bottom of the screen.You can see your location's information on the screen.

Step 14: You can tap.

The screen is in the top right corner.

Step 15: There is a download offline area.

The option will be at the bottom of the screen.

Step 16: To download, select the area.

You can save everything you want by dragging the rectangular frame over your location.You can zoom in or out by pinching your fingers, which will enlarge the area you want to save.

Step 17: If you want to download, tap it.

You will be able to download your area immediately.You can access your downloaded location offline by typing it into the search bar.You may have to allow or deny download notifications.

Step 18: You can tap.

There is a map in the top left corner.The user menu can be opened by doing so.

Step 19: You can tap offline areas.

It is at the top of the menu.

Step 20: Take a look at your offline maps.

You should see any areas you've downloaded in the past 29 days.

Step 21: The area you want to edit is offline.

It is possible to remove offline areas in this manner.

Step 22: The pencil icon is in the top right corner.

You can use this to categorize multiple saved locations from the same area.If you have three offline locations in the San Francisco area, you can change them to reflect their use.

Step 23: To update your offline area, tap Update.

You can re-download your area with any recently added landmarks included.Updating requires an internet connection.

Step 24: You can remove your offline area with a tap.

To remove the map permanently, you'll have to tap again.
