There are a lot of gnats in your plants. There are a lot of things you can do to get rid of the gnats, as well as some things that can be done to make your soil less inviting to them.If you have items like apple cider vinegar, dish soap, or fabric softener sheets at home, you can use them to get rid of gnats.Your houseplants will be free ofgnats after a few days.

Step 1: If you want to repel the gnats, put a fabric softener sheet on the soil.

If you want to cover it up completely, place the fabric softener sheet evenly on the soil. The scent of the sheet will prevent the gnats from laying their eggs.It is possible that you will need to cut your fabric softener sheet.Linalool is an ingredient that repels lots of insects, so fabric softener sheets are great for getting rid of gnats.

Step 2: The gnats can be caught using a trap and dish soap.

Take a small amount of apple cider vinegar and put it into a cup.Put transparent tape over the top of the cup and stir in 2 drops dish soap using a spoon so that the two ingredients are well combined. The gnats can fly into the cup and get stuck in the tape if you poke a small hole in it.If you don't have tape wide enough to cover the top of the cup in one strand, overlap sections of tape. The gnats are attracted to the smell of the mixture and will get stuck in the cup.

Step 3: H2O and water should be poured into the soil.

Add 1 part hydrogen peroxide into a cup with 4 parts water and stir them together with a spoon. If you put this mixture into your houseplant's soil, it will kill all the gnat eggs and leave you with clean soil.If the mixture leaks all the way through the soil and out of the pot, hold the plant over the sink or drainage saucer. When hydrogen peroxide isDiluted, it will not harm your house plant and will act as a cleaning agent for the soil.Live gnats will be killed by the hydrogen peroxide and water mixture.

Step 4: It's a good idea to sprinkle cinnamon on the soil.

The gnats won't be able to survive in your soil if thebacteria that you're getting rid of are the ones that they like to eat.Place cinnamon over the soil in a thin layer and wait a few days to see the results. If you want to get rid of the gnats completely, you may have to sprinkle cinnamon over the soil a few times. You won't need to use a lot of cinnamon.

Step 5: There are yellow sticky traps next to the plants.

The gnats can be caught with yellow sticky traps at a garden center or home improvement store. The gnats will get stuck in the traps if you put them around the houseplant. If the trap is covered in gnats, throw it away and replace it with a new one.

The gnats can be preyed on by things like nematodes, mites, or rove beetles.Release these at a bug or organic pest control store to let them do their job.Ask the professional who sells you the nematodes, mites, or beetles any questions you might have so you feel prepared to use them.

Step 8: To kill gnats, mix food-grade diatomaceous earth into the soil.

You can buy non-toxic diatomaceous earth from a local garden or home improvement store. You can either mix it into your houseplant's soil or spread it on the top layer of soil, which is about 2.5 cm thick. If possible, wear a mask when mixing the earth with the soil.A natural type of ground-up rock that is great for pest control is diatomaceous earth.

The holes in the bottom of your plant's pot are important.Pick out a pot with at least one hole in the bottom. If you're using a pot that doesn't have any drainage holes, it's best to transfer the plant to a new pot to keep it healthy.

Step 11: Put the excess water in saucers.

Once all of the water has drained through the soil, empty the saucer that catches the extra water after you water the plant. You can attract more gnats if you leave the water in the saucer. The soil has time to drain if you wait a few minutes after watering the plant.
